A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, TEXAS,
ESTABLISHING AND APPROVING A POLICY FOR THE SALE OF SURPLUS
PERSONAL PROPERTY WITH A VALUE OF LESS THAN $1,000; MAKING OTHER
FIIVDINGS AND PROVISIOIVS RELATED TO THE SUBJECT; A1VD DECLARIIVG AN
EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, on occasion, the City has surplus personal property that it needs to sell for which
there is limited demand, such as scrap metal from old water meters, etc.; and,
WHEREAS, in order to expediently dispose of miscellaneous surplus personal property
belonging to the City of Paris it is deemed appropriate to establish a policy for the sale of surplus
personal property with a value less than $1,000; and,
WHEREAS, the proposed policy for the sale of surplus personal property with a value of
less than $1,000, attached hereto as Exhibit "A", should be approved.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS,
TEXAS, THAT:
Section 1. The findings set out in the preamble to this resolution are hereby in all things
approved.
Section 2. The Policy for the Sale of Surplus Personal Property with a value of less than
$1,000, attached hereto as Exhibit "A" be, and the same is hereby approved.
Section 3. This resolution shall be effective immediately upon passage.

SALE OF CITY PERSONAL PROPERTY
Before the City of Paris makes any sale of personal property belonging to the City having a value of less
than $1,000, opportunity shall be given for open competition by taking at least two informal bids on said
property from businesses or individuals known to be interested in such property type. The sale shall be
awarded to the highest bidder on such property.
