BACKGROUND:
Since late 2006, the City of Paris has demolished 253 houses at a cost of $526,073.28. In addition, in
the last year the City also demolished the Casa Bonita and One Oak apartment complexes for
$629,396.33 and $197,751.00, respectively. The total spent on demolition since late 2006 is
$1,353,220.61. The inventory of houses to be demolished currently stands at approximately 15.
Demolition efforts to date have focused on uninhabited structures but we are now at the point where the
remaining houses that meet the demolition standard inhabited. Staff is in the process of issuing a request
for proposals for a new demolition contract.
