2010-001-RES of the PEDC board expressing overwhelming support of Turner IndResolution No. PEDC-2010-001 A RESOLUTION OF THE PARIS ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION (PEDC) BOARD, PARIS, TEXAS, EXPRESSING OVERWHELMING SUPPORT OF TURNER INDUSTRIES' PARIS OPERATIONS AND THANKING THEM FOR THEIR SIGNIFICANT EMPLOYMENT PRESENCE AND ECONOMIC IMPACT IN PARIS, LAMAR COUNTY AND THE NORTHEAST TEXAS REGION. WHEREAS Turner Industries' Paris operation is the largest pipe fabrication facility in the United States; and, WHEREAS Turner Industries has provided a single vendor solution in heavy industrial construction, maintenance, pipe, module and vessel fabrication, equipment, rigging and heavy hauling, and associated specialty services for nearly 50 years; and, WHEREAS Turner Industries is vested in Paris and surrounding communities and has taken an active, participatory role in community events to increase the quality of life as much for people throughout the area as for their own employees; and, WHEREAS Turner Industries has remained committed to Paris and Lamar County during these and other economically and socially challenging times; and, WHEREAS Turner Industries has accepted responsibility in being involved in the Paris community, where its employees live and work; and, WHEREAS Turner Industries has focused on being a good corporate citizen backed by action and financial support; and, WHEREAS Turner Industries has directly and indirectly provided well-paying employment and benefits to many Paris and Lamar County residents, including countless opportunities for individuals possessing criminal histories to start their lives anew with significant jobs; and, WHEREAS Turner Industries delivers one of the highest levels of economic impact in the greater Paris community, serving as a major source of financial support for individuals, businesses, nonprofit and government organizations; WHEREAS Turner Industries serves in an overall anchor position within the community; and WHEREAS the Paris Economic Development Corporation Board and our community do not tolerate, or approve of racism, discrimination or harassment in any form. A RESOLUTION OF THE PARIS ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION, PARIS, TEXAS, SUPPORTING TURNER INDUSTRIES Page 1 of 2 May 13, 2010 NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE PARIS ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION BOARD, PARIS, TEXAS: Section 1. That Turner Industries corporate leaders Sue Turner, Roland Toups and Bob Pearson, all members of the company's management team, Paris plant manager Tom Glascock and all employees of the company be recognized for their commitment, patience and contributions as valued and vital members of the Paris and Lamar County community. Section 2. That Turner Industries will receive all support possible from the Paris Economic Development Corporation Board, Executive Director and staff in the company's desire to achieve the fizllest degree of success in its Paris operations. Section 3. That the Paris Economic Development Corporation Board calls upon all citizens of the City, Lamar County and Northeast Texas region to support Turner Industries as it seeks to strengthen opportunities for its employees and its business within the area.
