POLICY ISSUE(S): City boards and commissions. BACKGROUND: On June 28, 2010, City Council appointed members to the boards, commissions and committees. At that time Council appointed Johnny Norris to the Building and Standards Commission, pending verification of his residence. The City Clerk verified that Mr. Norris does reside in the City of Paris. There were a few other vacancies remaining after the June 28 meeting due to the lack of number of applications received. Since that time we have received applications from Jerry Coyle the Airport Advisory Board, and Becky Semple and Rhonda Morris for the Band Commission. A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, TEXAS, APPOINTING MEMBERS TO THE AIRPORT ADVISORY BOARD, THE BAND COMMISSION AND THE BUILDING AND STANDARDS COMMISSION; MAKING OTHER FINDINGS AND PROVISIONS RELATED TO THE SUBJECT; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the term of office of Glen Chapman as a member of the Airport Advisory Board of the City of Paris expired Apri130, 2010; and, WHEREAS, Jerry Coyle has been nominated to serve as a member of the Airport Advisory Board for a term of three (3) years, beginning July 1, 2010 and ending June 30, 2013; and, WHEREAS, the terms of office of Becky Semple (V&CC member) and Stephen L. Committees include one Council Member and one or more City staff liaisons appointed to provide support to their respective group and provide additional information during City Council discussions on committee actions. Local high school students also serve as student liaisons to those committees that do not have legislative authority or hear personnel or legal matters. The Mayor and City Manager also serve as ex-officio members to each committee.
