RECOMMENDED MOTION:
Move to approve a Resolution appointing members to fill the vacancies on Paris/Lamar County Health
Board of Health.
POLICY ISSUE(S):

BACKGROUND:
At the June 28th City Council meeting, it was a consensus of the Council to recommend that Dr. James
Gulde and William "Bill" Sanders be appointed to the Paris/Lamar County Board of Health Board,
pending approval of the Lamar County Commissioner's Court. City staff contacted Judge Superville
and was informed there was no objection to the appointments. In the meantime, Mr. Bethel learned that
Dr. Carpenter desires to continue to serve on the Board.

A JOINT RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, TEXAS,
AND THE COMMISSIONERS COURT OF LAMAR COUNTY, TEXAS, APPOINTING
MEMBERS TO THE PARIS-LAMAR COUNTY BOARD OF HEALTH; MAKING
OTHER FINDINGS AND PROVISIONS RELATED TO THE SUBJECT; AND
PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the terms of office of Dr. David Carpenter, Doctor of Medicine, and Mrs. Denise
Williams, Citizen, as members of the Paris-Lamar County Board of Health expired April 30, 2010;
and,
WHEREAS, the Mayor of the City of Paris, with the advice of the County Judge of Lamar
County, Texas, does hereby recommend the appointments of . and
for three-year terms, beginning July 1, 2010 and ending June 30, 2013.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS,
TEXAS AND THE COMMISSIONERS COURT OF LAMAR COUNTY, TEXAS:
Section 1. That the findings set out in the preamble to this resolution are hereby in all
things approved.
