MINUTES
REGULAR MEETING
CITY OF PARIS HISTORIC PRESERVATION COMMISSION
WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 13, 2010
12:00 0'CLOCK P.M.
The Historic Preservation Commission meeting was called to order by Paul Denney, Vice
Chairman at 12:00 p.m.
A. The following rnembers were present:
Paul Denney, Vice-Chairman
Douglas Cox
Ben Vaughan
Jerry Raper
Matt Coyle
B. The following members were absent:
Arvin Starrett, Chairman
Susan Scholz, Secretary
C. Also present were Shawn Napier, P.E., Historic Preservation Officer; Cheri
Bedford, Main Street Coordinator; Zachary Branch Ex-Officio Youth
Commission Member, and Rhonda Rogers, City Council Member.
2. Appiroval of minutes,from prei7ious minutes. (September 27, 2010; October 1, 2010)
Motion was made by Jerry Raper, seconded by Matt Coyle to approve the minutes for the
September, 27, 2010 and October 1, 2010 meetings. Motion carried 5-0.
Consider-ation of and action on the,following Faqade Grants:
A. 32 Clarksville Street - Spangler's - Motion was made by Matt Coyle, seconded
by Jerry Raper to approve the Fagade Grant in the amount of $ l,000.00. Motion
carried 5-0.
4. Report, discussion and possible action on the sub-committee nomination for the 2010
"Hayden Award for Historic Preservation
Matt Coyle made the report to the commission. Mr. Coyle stated the sub-committee
discussed the possible nominees being the Main Street Advisory Board, and Daniel
Gallery. Ben Vaughan stated the sub-committee considered the Main Street Advisory
Board because of their work on the Plaza, and the project benefited the public rather than
an individual. Matt Coyle further stated that the Daniel Gallery has done a lot of work on
facade of their building and are a sustainable business downtown, which is one of the

criteria for being nominated. Motion was made by Douglas Cox, seconded by Jerry
Raper to nominate the Main Street Advisory Board for the "Hayden Award for Historic
Preservation." Motion carried 5-0.
5. Future agenda items. Develop criteria for the "Hayden Award for Historic Preservation"
and possibly establish a sub-committee to develop the criteria. Update for the COA
application process. Discussion and possible action on blade signs located in the
downtown area.
6. Meeting adjourned at 12:15 p.m.
