A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, TEXAS,
APPROVING A PROCLAMATION DECLARING THE MONTH OF APRIL AS
FAIR HOUSING MONTH; MAKING OTHER FINDINGS AND PROVISIONS
RELATED TO THE SUBJECT; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Paris is supportive of Title VIII of the Civil
Rights Act of 1968, as amended, which prohibits discrimination in housing; and,
WHEREAS, the Mayor of the City of Paris has executed a Proclamation in the form
shown in Exhibit A, attached hereto, proclaiming the month of April as "Fair Housing
Month" in the City of Paris; and,
WHEREAS, it is deemed to be in the best interests of the City of Paris that the City
Council of the City of Paris show support of the Fair Housing law by approving said
proclamation;
1VOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
PARIS, TEXAS:
Section 1. That the findings set out in the preamble to this resolution are hereby
in all things approved.
Section 2. That the Proclamation proclaiming April as "Fair Housing Month" in
the City of Paris in the form shown in Exhibit A attached hereto, be, and the same is hereby,
approved.
Section 3. That this resolution shall be effective from and after its date of passage.

PROCLAMATION
WHEREAS, Title VIII of the Civil Rights Act of 1968, as amended, prohibits
discrimination in housing and declares it a national policy to provide, within
constitutional limits, for fair housing in the United States; and,
WHEREAS, the principle of Fair Housing is not only national law and national
policy, but a fundamental human concept and entitlement for all Americans; and,
WHEREAS, the fortieth anniversary of this National Fair Housing Law, during
the month of April, provides an opportunity for all Americans to recognize that
complete success in the goal of equal housing opportunity can only be accomplished
with the help and cooperation of all Americans;
NOW, THEREFORE, 1, Will Biard, Mayor of the City of Paris, Texas, by the
authority vested in me, do hereby proclaim April as
"FAIR HOUSING MONTH"
in the city of Paris and do, hereby, urge all the citizens of Paris to become aware of and
support the Fair Housing law.
