Number FISCAL NOTES: REVIEWED AND APPROVED BY: ® Administration ® City Clerk ❑ Community Development ❑ EMS/IT ❑ Finance ❑ Fire ❑ Municipal Court ® Legal ❑ Library ❑ Police ❑ Eng./Public Works ❑ Utilities City of Paris Revised 2/04/08 PRO CLAN A~rION 'WHEREAS, safety is among the highestpriorities for the highways andstreets of our City and State and the great State of Texas is proud to be a national Leader in motorcycle safety, education andawareness; anc~ ^WIIEREAS, motorcycles are a common and economical means of transportation that reduces fuel consumption and road wear, and contributes in a significant way to the relief of traffic congestion andparking; ands -WHEREAS, it is especially important that the citizens of our City and State be aware of motorcycles on the streets and highways and recognize the importance of motorcycle safety; and, WHEREAS, motorcyclists continually promote motorcycle safety, education and awareness in high school drivers' education programs and to the genera(pubhc in our City and State, presenting motorcycle awareness programs to over ioo,ooo participants in the past four years atone; anci, 'WHEREAS, aff motorcyclists should join Gypsy MCParis in activefy promoting the safe operation of motorcycles, as wedas promoting motorcycle safety, education and awareness to the citizens of our City and State; and, -WHEREAS, the motorcyclists have contributed extensive time, money and community service to national and community charitable organizations such as Easter Seals, Make-A-Wish Foundation, Muscular Dystrophy Association, Salvation Army andvarious g/ii relief efforts; anc4 ^WHEREAS, during the month of may, aff roadway users should unite in the safe sharing of the roadways within the City of Paris, and throughout the great State of Texas; NO-W, THEREFORE, I, -WILL BIARD MAYOR OF THE CM OF PARIS, TEXAS, by the authority vested in me, and in recognition of the i7" Anniversary of the efforts of A.B.A.7.E., Gypsy McParis and the other 220,ooo registered motorcyclists statewide, and in recognition of the continued rote they serve as a leader in motorcycle safety, education and awareness, do hereby proclaim the month of may, 2011, as "NOTORCyCLP AWARE NTSS NOSY' -V' in Paris, Lamar County, Texas, and urge all motorists to join in an effort to improve safety andawareness on our roadways.
