RECOMMENDED MOTION:
Provide Direction for Staff for Tow, Impound Policy
POLICY ISSUE(S):
Impounding Vehicles where drivers cannot provide proof of insurance.
BACKGROUND:
At the City Council meeting of June 27th, Council requested different options to be brought back for
consideration of a city ordinance authorizing the towing and impounding of vehicles which do not have
required liability insurance.

On a traffic violation stop, driver cannot provide proof of required insurance coverage, citation only.
If the driver does not have a driver's license and cannot provide proof of required insurance coverage,
vehicle is towed.
If the driver is involved in a collision and cannot provide proof of required insurance coverage, vehicle
is towed.

On a traffic violation stop or after being involved in a collision, the driver cannot provide proof of
required insurance coverage, citation only.
