IF NEEnED - Move to approve a resolution setting a public hearing on proposed amendments to the
proposed Budget for Fiscal year 2011-2012.

BACKGROUND:
Pursuant to Section 51 of the Paris City Charter, should the Council insert any additional item or
increase any item of appropriation, a public hearing is required and a notice is required to be published
setting forth the proposed increases and fixing a place and time for a public hearing. Should such action
be necessary, staff recommends holding a public hearing on August 22, 2011, to receive input on the
proposed amendments.

RESOLUTION N0.
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, TEXAS,
SETTING A PUBLIC HEARING ON PROPOSED AMENDMENTS TO THE CITY
MANAGER'S PROPOSED BUDGET FOR FISCAL YEAR 2011-2012; MAKING
OTHER FINDINGS AND PROVISIONS RELATED TO THE SUBJECT; AND
PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, on the 22nd day of July, 2011 the City Manager did file his proposed
budget for the City of Paris Fiscal Year 2011-2012 with the City Clerk of the City of Paris, in
accordance with Vernon's Texas Codes Annotated, Local Government Code, Section
102.005(a); and,
WHEREAS, on July 25, 2011, at a regularly scheduled meeting of the City Council of
the City of Paris the City Manager submitted his proposed budget for the City of Paris Fiscal
year 2011-2012 to the City Council in accordance with Section 45 of the Charter; and,
WHEREAS, in accordance with Section 50 of the City Charter, a public hearing was
held on August 8th, 2011, at which certain new items were added to the Budget and/or
certain line items or accounts were increased in the Budget; therefore a new public hearing
must be called and held on a future date to consider these amendments; and,
WHEREAS, an appropriate time for said public hearing is found to be the 22nd day
of August, 2011, at 5:30 p.m.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
PARIS, TEXAS:
Section 1. That the findings set out in the preamble to this resolution are hereby
in all things approved.
Section 2. That a public hearing is called for the 22nd day of August, 2011, at 5:30
p.m. at the Council Chamber, 107 E. Kaufman, Paris, Texas, for the purpose of hearing
written and oral comments from the citizens of the City of Paris concerning the proposed
amendments and/or additions to the City Manager's proposed annual budget for fiscal year
beginning October 1, 2011, and ending September 30, 2012; and,
Section 3. That the City Clerk of the City of Paris publish notice of said public
hearing in the Paris News on the 12th day of August, 2011, setting forth the time and place
of said public hearing, which public hearing date is no sooner than the tenth (10th) day
after said publication date.
Section 4. That this resolution shall be effective from and after its date of passage.
