CITY COUNCIL AGENDA ITEM BRIEFING SHEET Submittal Date: Originating Department: Presented By: Agenda Item No.: 7-28-11 Council Date: Finance Gene Anderson 18. 8-8-11 RECOMMENDED MOTION: Motion to accept the low bid for renovation and alteration of the new warehouse building. POLICY ISSUE(S): Financial administration. The City purchased property located at 165 W. Center Street for a replacement warehouse building. This is an ideal location because the property backs up to the existing Public Works property. The current warehouse building is a WWII era building acquired from Camp Maxey many years ago and is in very poor condition. Acquisition of the Center Street building cost $121,928.99. Three bids were received July 28t" for the renovation and alteration. The low bid was given by Bob Johns Construction, LLC in the amount of $195,266 plus $3,800 for alternate number one. This low bid exceeds the budgeted amount by $65,829. I recommend acceptance of the low bid with the extra funds being transferred from line item 11-1002-81-99 originally budgeted for the radio read meter project which will not be done this fiscal year.
