RECOMMENDED MOTION:
Move to approve a Resolution appointing Thomas E. Hunt, III as Municipal Court Judge and Stephanie
Harris as Associate Municipal Court Judge.

BACKGROUND:
Section 27 of the Faris City Charter states that the City Council shall appoint a duly licensed attorney to
serve as judge for a term of two years. Judge Hunt was appointed Associate Municipal Court Judge in
May 1985 and has served as Municipal Court Judge since October 1985. Associate Judge Harris has
served as Associated Judge since October 2007. The current terms for both judges will end September
30, 2011. The new term would begin October 1, 2011 and end September 30, 2013.

RESOLUTION N0.
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, TEXAS,
APPOINTING THOMAS E. HUNT, III AS MUNICIPAL COURT JUDGE AND
STEPHANIE HARRIS AS ASSOCIATE MUNICIPAL COURT JUDGE FOR THE
CITY OF PARIS; MAKING OTHER FINDINGS AND PROVISIONS RELATED
TO THE SUBJECT; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the current term of office of Thomas E. Hunt, III, as Municipal Court
Judge of the City of Paris, and Stephanie Harris, as Associate Municipal Court Judge will
expire on September 30, 2011 ; and,
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Paris, Texas, finds and determines that the
reappointment of Thomas E. Hunt, III as Municipal Court Judge of the City of Paris and the
reappointment of Stephanie Harris as Associate Municipal Court Judge of the City of Paris,
for two (2) year terms beginning October 1, 2011, and ending September 30, 2013, is in the
best interests of the City and its citizens;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
PARIS, TEXAS, THAT:
Section 1. The findings set out in the preamble to this resolution are hereby in
all things approved.
Section 2. That Thomas E. Hunt, III is hereby appointed to serve as Municipal
Court Judge of the City of Paris for a term of two (2) years, beginning October 1, 2011, and
ending September 30, 2013.
Section 3. That Stephanie Harris is hereby appointed to serve as Associate
Municipal Court Judge of the City of Paris for a term of two (2) years, beginning October 1,
2011, and ending September 30, 2013.
Section 4. That this resolution shall be effective from and after its date of
passage.
