AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE EXTENSION OF CERTAIN
BOUNDARY LIMITS OF THE CITY OF PARIS, PARIS, TEXAS, AND THE
ANNEXATION OF CERTAIN TERRITORY CONSISTING OF 89.61 ACRES,
MORE OR LESS, WHICH IS LESS THAN TEN PER CENT (10%) Or THE
TERRITORY INCLUDED WITHIN ITS PRESENT CITY LIMITS, WHICH
SAID TERRITORY LIES ADJACENT "I'O AND ADJOINS THE PRESENT
BOUNDA RY LIM ITS OF THE CITY OF PA R IS, PA R IS, TEXA S, A ND
PROVIDING ZONING FOR SAID TERRITORY.
Whereas, a public hearing before the City Council of the City of
Paris, Paris, Texas, where all interested persons were provided with an
opportunity to be heard on the proposed annexation of the following de -
scribed territory, to-wit:
TRACT 1: IiEGINNING at the Northeast corner of
a 4. 72 acre tract of land out of the Isaac Cruse Survey,
conveyed John R. Webster, Jr. , by deed dated January 10,
1976, recorded in Volume 575, Page 433, Deed Records,
Lamar County, Texas, said corner being in the South
Right of Way Line of U. S. Highway No. 82 and in the
present City Limit Line of the City of Paris;
THENCE S 1 degree 00 minutes W with the present
City Limit Line and the East Boundary Line of said
Webster tract, a distance of 504. 0 feet to a point;
~ THENCE N 88 degrees 55 minutes W, parallel with
' and 504 feet South of the South Right of Way Line of
U. S. Highway No. 82, a distance of 632. 0 feet to a point,
at 540 feet crossing the most Easterly West Boundary Line
of a 54.80 acre tract of land conveyed Lisle Mullins and
wife, Helen Mullins, by deed dated January 11, 1966, re-
corded in Volume 438, Page 292, Deed Records, Lamar
County, Texas;
THENCE N 1 degree 00 minutes E, 92 feet West
of and parallel with said West Boundary Line of the
Mullins tract, a distance of 504. 0 feet to a point in the
South Right of Way Line of U. S. Highway No. 82;
THENCE S 88 degrees 55 minutes E, along said
South Right of Way Line of U. S. flighway No. 82, a
distance o f 632. 0 feet to the place of beginning and con-
taining 7.31 acres of land, more or less.
, TRACT 2: BEGINNING at a point in the East
Boundary Line of I<aywood Addition, said point being
300 feet South of the South Right of Way Line of
U. S. Highway 82 and in the present City Limit Line;
TF-IENCE S 0° 45' W with said East Boundary Line
of Kaywood Addition and its Southerly projection, a
d.istance of 2, 813 feet to a point in the North Right of
Way Line of Old Bonham Road;
THENCE S 89 ° 30' E with the North Right of Way
Line of 01d Bonham Road 1277. U feet to a point in the
East Right of Way Line of 41st S. W. , said point being
in the present City Limit L.ine;
- THENCE N 10 00' E with the East Right of Way
L.ine of 41st S. W. and the present City Limit Line, a
distance of 2803 feet to a point;
THENCE N 89° 25' W across 41st S. W. and with
the present City Limit L.ine, a distance of 1277. 0 feet
to the place of beginning and containing 82. 3 acres of
land, more or less. was held at Paris, Texas, on the 14th day of February, 1977, which date
is not more than twenty nor less than ten days prior to the institution of
annexation proceedings; and,
WHEREAS, notice of such public hearing was published in a news-
paper having general circulation in the City of Paris, Texas, and in the
above described territory, on the 27th day of January, 1977, which date
is not more than twenty nor less than ten days prior to the date of such
public hearing; and,
WHEREAS, the total corporate area of the City of Paris, Paris,
Texas, on the first day of January, 1977, was 13, 879. 539 acres; and
WHEREAS, the population of the City of Paris, Paris, Texas, is
in excess of 5, 000 and less than 25, 000 inhabitants; and,
WHEREAS, the above described territory lies within the extra-
, territorial jurisdict.ion of the City of Paris, Paris, Texas; and,

WHEREAS, the above described territory lies adjacent to and
adjoins the City of Paris, Paris, Texas; and,
WHEREAS, the above described territory contains 89. 61 acres,
more or less, which when added to other property annexed in the year
1977 is less than ten per cent (1070) of the present acreage contained
in the corporate limits of the City of Paris, Texas; and,
WHEREAS, the above described property should be properly
zoned as of the date of annexat.ion; NOW, TI-1EREFORE,
BE IT ORDA INED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
PA R IS:
Section 1. The following described land and territory lying ad-
jacent to and adjoining the C.ity of Paris, Paris, Texas, is hereby added
and annexed to the City of Paris, Paris, Texas, and said territory here-
inafter described shall hereafter be included within the boundary limits
of the City of Paris, Texas, and the present boundary limits of said
city, at the various points contiguous to the area hereinafter described,
are altered and amended so as to include said area within the corporate
limits of the City of Paris, Texas, to-wit:

TRACT 2: BEGINNING at a point in the East

Line of 41st S. W. and the present City Limit Line, a
distance of 2803 feet to a point;
THENCE N 89° 25' W across 41st S. W. and with
the present City Limit Line, a d.istance of 1277. 0 feet
to the place of beginning and containing 82. 3 acres of
land, more or less.
Section 2. The above described territory and area so annexed
shall be a part of the City of Paris, Texas, and the property so added
hereby shall bear its pro rata part of the taxes levied by the City of
Paris, Paris, Texas, and the inhabitants thereof sha11 be entitled to
all of the rights and privileges of all the citizens and shall be bound
by the acts, ordinances, resolutions and regulations of the City of
Paris, Par.is, Texas.
Section 3. Zhe above described Tracts 1 and 2 are hereby
annexed under zoning classifications provided for in Zoning Ordinance
No. 1710 of the City of Paris, Paris, Texas, as follows:
PROPERTY ZONING CLASSIFICATION
a. Tract 1 herein Commercial District (C)
b. Tract 2 herein One-Family Dwelling District No. 2(SF-2)
Section 4. It is hereby declared to be the intention of the City
Council of the City of Paris that the sections, paragraphs, sentences,
clauses and phrases of this ordinance are severable, and if any phrase,
clause, sentence, paragraph or section of this ordinance shall be de -
clared unconstitutional or .invalid by the valid judgment or decree of any
court of competent jurisdiction, such unconstitutionality or invalidity
shall not affect any of the remaining phrases, clauses, sentences, para-
graphs and sections of this ordinance, since the same would have been
enacted by the City Council without the incorporation in this ordinance
of any unconstitutional or invalid phrases, clauses, sentences, para-
graphs or sections, It is further hereby declared to be the intention
of the City Council of the City of Paris to exclude any area or areas
described in the description of the property to be annexed, which are
not within said City's jurisdiction to annex and that such area or areas
should be carved out of the description of the property herein described
by the valid judgment or decree of any court of competent jurisdiction,
in order that such area or areas would not cause this annexation ordi-
nance to be found to be .invalid, voidable or vo.id.
Section 5. This ordinance shall be published and passed in the
manner provided in Article II, Section 7, of the Charter of the City of
Paris, Paris, Texas.
