AND TT-1E ANNEXATION OF CERTAIN TERRITORY CONSISTING
OF 31.45 AC1tES, MORE OR LESS, WIIICII IS LESS Tf-IAN TEN
PER CENT (lOf ) OF THE TERRITORY INCLUDED WITHIN ITS
PRESENT CITY LIMITS, WIIICH SAID TERRITORY LIES ADJACENT
TO AND ADJOiNS THE PRESENT BOUNDARY LIMITS OF THE
CITY OF PARIS, PARIS, TEXAS, AND PROVIDING ZONING FOR
SA ID TEI2R ITORY.
Whereas, a public hear.ing before the City Council of the City
of Paris, Paris, Texas, where all interested persons were provided
with an opportunity to be heard on the proposed annexation of the
following described terr.itory:
Situated
partly within r11e Corporate Limits of the City
of Par.is, County of Lamar, State of Texas, a part of the

by D. Wayne
Brown and G. Eugene Brown and being a part
of the follow.ing tract of land conveyed J. L. Jopling,

57 acres in Vol. 312, Page 509, and a 44 acre

stitution of annexation proceedings; and,
WIIEREAS, notice of such publ.ic hearing was published in a
newspaper having general circulation in the City of Paris, Texas, and
in the above described territory, on the 24th day of September, 1975,
which date is not more than twenty nor less than ten days prior to
the date of such public hearing; and,
WHEREAS, the total corporate area of the City of Paris, Paris,
Texas, on the first day of January, 1975, was 13, 729. 728 acres; and,
WHEREAS, the population of the C.ity of Paris, Par.is, Texas, is
~ in excess of 5, 000 and less than 25, 000 inhabitants; and,
WHEREAS, the above described territory lies within the extra-
territor.ial j ur.isdiction of the City of Par.is, I'aris, Texas; and,
WI-IEREAS, the above described territory lies adjacent to and
adjoins the City of Paris, Paris, Texas; and,
WI-ILREAS, the above descr.ibed territory contains 31. 45 acres,
more or less, which when added to other property annexed in the •
year 1975 is less than ten per cent (lOJ) of the present acreage
contained in the corporate limits of the City of Paris, Texas; and,
WIIEREAS, the above descr.ibed property should be properly
zoned as of the date of annexation; NOW, TI1E, REFORE,
BE IT ORDAINED BY TI-IE CITY COUNCIL Or ITIE CITY
OT PARIS:
Section l. The following clescr.ibed land and territory lying
adjacent to and adjoining the City of Par.is, Par.is, Texas, is hereby
added and annexed to the C.ity of Paris, Paris, Texas, and said
territory hereinafter described shall hereafter be included within
the boundary limits of the City of Paris, Tzxas, and the present
boundary limits of said city, at the var.ious points contiguous to the
area hereinafter described, are altered and amended so as to in-
clude said area within the corporate limits of the City of Paris,
Texas, to-wit:

Section 2. The above descriUeci territory and area so annexed
shall be a part of the City of Paris, Texas, and the property so
added hereby shall bear its pro rata part of the taxes levied by the
City of Paris, Paris, Texas, and the inhaUitants thereof shall be en-
t.itled to all of the rights and priv.ileges of all the cit.izens and shall
be bound by the acts, ord.inances, resolutions and regulations of the
City of Paris, Paris, Texas.
Section 3. 'Ihe above described territory is hereby zoned
One-Family Dwelling District No. 2(SF-2) upon annexation as
provided for in Zoning Ordinance No. 1710 of the City of Paris,
Paris, Texas.
Section 4. It is hereby declared to be the intention of the
City Council of the City of Paris that the sections, paragraphs,
sentences, clauses and phrases of this ordinance are severable,
and if any phrase, clause, sentence, paragraph or section of this
ordinance shall be declared unconstitutional or invalid by the valid
judgment or decree of any court of competent jurisdiction, such
unconstitutionality or invalidity shall not affect any of the remaining
phrases, clauses, sentences, paragraphs and sections of this
ordinance, since the same would 11ave been enacted by the City Council witllout the incorporation in this ordinance of any unconsti-
tutional or invalid phrases, clauses, sentences, paragraphs or
sections. Ir is further liereby declared to be the intention of the
City Council of the City of Paris to exclude any area or areas
described in the description of the property to be annexed, which
are not within said City's jurisdiction to annex and that such area
or areas should be carved out of the description of the property
herein described by the valid j udgment or decree of any court of
competent jurisdiction, .in order that such area or areas would not
cause this annexation ordinance to be found to be invalid, voidable
or void.
Section 5. lhis ord.inance shall be published and passed in
the manner provided in Article II, Section 7, of the Charter of the
City of Paris, Paris, Texas.
