AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE EXTENSION OF CERTAIN
BOUNDARY LIMITS OF THE CITI' OF PARIS, PARIS, TEXAS, AND THE
ANNEXATION OF CERTAIN TERRITORY CONSISTING OF 1548.12
ACRES, 1544.45 ACRES OF WHICH IS OWNED BY THE CITY OF PARIS
AND THE STATE OF TEXAS AND IS USED FOR PUBLIC PURPOSE,
A.ND 3.67 ACRES, WHICH IS LESS THAN TEN PER CENT (1070) OF THE
TERRITORY INCLUDED WITHIN ITS PRESENT CITY LIMITS, ALL OF
WHICH SAID TERRITORY LIES ADJACENT TO AND ADJOTNS THE PRE-
SENT BOUNDARY LIMITS OF THE CITY OF PARIS, TEXAS.
WHEREA.S, a public hearing before the City Council of the City
of Paris, Paris, Texas, where all interested persons were provided with
an opportunity to be hearcl on the proposed annexation of the following
described territory:
TRACT l: Situated in the County of Lamar and State
of Texas, a part of the John W. Williams, John Skidmore,
R. G. Miller, William Scott, and H. B. D avis Surveys, and
described as follows:
BEGINNING at a point 50 feet North of F. M. Highway
No. 1508 C/L Sta. 35+70. 3, and being in the City Limits line
described by City Ordinance No. 2162, dated August 13, 1973;
TIIENCE N 80° 30' E parallel and SO feet North of said
Highway C/L a distance of 442. 0 feet to a point, said point
being 50 feet North of T. M. Highway No. 1508 C/L Sta.
40+12. 3 and the beginning of a curve to the right, which has
a radius of 5, 779. 65 feet, degree of 0° 59' and intersection
angle of 9 ° 22' ;
THENCE along said F. M. Highway No. 1508 and curve
to the right being 50 feet North of and radial with said C/L a

a point. Said point being 50 feet South of Highway No. 1508
C/L Sta. 35+70. 3, also being the City Limits Line described
by Ordinance No. 2162, dated August 13, 1973;

property not included within the corporate limits of the
City of Paris, which is described as follows:
A part of the Joseph Leach Survey, Lamar County,
Texas, and being a tract of land now owned by Kay and
Wayne Brown.

recorded in Vol. 290, Page 581, of the Deed Records of said

was held at Paris, Texas, on the 8th day of October, 1973, which date is not more than twenty nor less than ten days prior to the institution
of annexation proceedings; and,
WHE, REAS, notice of such public hearing was published in a
newspaper having general circulation in the City of Paris, Texas, and
in the above described territory, on the 23rd day of September, 1973,
which date is not more than twenty nor less than ten days prior to the
, date of such public hearing; and,
WHEREAS, the total corporate area of the City of Paris, Paris,
Texas, on the first day of January, 1973, was 12, 251. 6552 acres; and,
WHEREAS, the population of the City of Paris, Paris, Texas,
is in excess of 5, 000 and less than 25, 000 inhabitants; and,
WHEREAS, Tract 1 described above, being wholly owned by the
' City of Paris and the State of Texas, lies partially within the extra-
territorial jurisdiction of the City of Paris and partially without and is
used for public purpose, and Tract 2 described above is privately
owned and lies wholly within the extraterritorial j urisdiction of the
City of Paris, Paris, Texas; and,
WHEREAS, the above described territory lies adjacent to and
adjoins the City of Paris, Paris, Texas; and,
WHEREAS, the above described territory contains 1548. 12
acres, more or less, 1544. 45 acres of which is owned by the City of
Paris and the State of Texas and is used for a public purpose and

than ten per cent (107.) of the acreage contained in the corporate
limits of the City of Paris, Texas; NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
PAR IS:
Section 1. The following described land and territory lying
adjacent to and adjoining r.he City of Paris, Paris, Texas, is hereby
added and annexed to the City of Paris, Paris, Texas, and said terri -
tory hereinafter described shall hereafter be included within the
boundary limits of the City of Pari s, Texas, and the present boundary
limits of said city, at the various points contiguous to the area here -
, inafter described, are altered and amended so as to include said area
within the corporate limits of the City of Paris, Texas, to-wit•
TRACT 1: Situated in the County of Lamar and State
of Texas a part of the John W. Williams, John Skidmore,

No. 1508 C/L Sta. 35+70. 3, and being in the City Limits line
described by City Ordinance No. 2162, dated August 13, 1973;

That part of the above described tract being annexed
contains 3. 67 acres of land.
Section 2. The above described territory and area so annexed
shall be a part of the City of Paris, Texas, and the property so added
hereby shall bear its pro rata part of the taxes levied by the City of
Paris, Paris, Texas, and the inhabitants thereof shall be entitled to
all of the rights and privileges of all the citizens and shall be bound
by the acts, ordinances, resolutions and regulations of the City of
Paris, Paris, Texas.
Section 3. It is hereby declared to be the intention of the City
Council cf the City of Paris that the sections, paragraphs, sentences,
clauses and phrases of this ordinance are severable, and if any
phrase, clause, sentence, paragraph or section of this ordinance shall
be declared unconstitutional or invalid by the valid judgment or de-
cree of any court of competent jurisdiction, such unconstitutionality
or . invalidity shall not affect any of the remaining phrases, clauses,
sentences, paragraphs and sections of this ordinance, since the same
would have been enacted by the City Council without the incorporation
in this ordinance of any unconstitutional or invalid phrases, clauses,
sentences, paragraphs or sections. It is further hereby declared to
be the intention of the City Council of the City of Paris to exclude any
area or areas described in the description of the property to be
annexed, wllich are not within the City's jurisdiction to annex and that
such area or areas should be carved out of the description of the
property herein described by the valid judgment or decree of any
court of competent jurisdiction, in order that such area or areas
would not cause this annexation ordinance to be found to be invalid,
voidable or void.
Section 4. This ordinance shall be published and passed in the
manner provided in Article II, Section 7, of the Charter of the City
of Paris, Paris, Texas.
