1739ORDINANCE NO. 1739 AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FO~ THE EX'I'ENSION OF CERTAIN BOUND_ARY LIMtTS OF THE CITY Or PARIS, TEXAS, AND THE ANN:EX.ATION OF CERTAIN 'TERRITORY CON5ISTING OF LESS THAN TEiV PER CENT OF THE PRESENT AREA OF THE CITY OF PARIS, TEXAS, WHICH SAID TERRITORY LIES AD.JA- CENT TO AND AD.JOINS THE PRESENT BOUNDARY LTMIT OF THE CIT Y O ~T ' PARI5, TEXAS, AND W'rIICH IS PART OF THE EXT'RATEtZRITORIAL JURIS- DICTION OF THE CITY OF PARIS, TEXAS. WHEREA5, a public hearing before the City Council of the City of Paris, Texas, where all interested persoris were provided with an opportunity to be heard on the proposed annexation of the following described territory: Situated in the Coutrty of Lamar and State of Te:cas, and being described as follows: Beginning at a stake where the most Western City Limit Line of the City of Paris intersects the S. B. Line of Highway 82; Thence West wii;h the S. B. Line of Highway 82 to the North'West ~ Corner of a tract of land belonging to Kay Brown and described as follows: 5ituated in Lamar County, Texas, a part of the Isaac Cruise Survey, and being a part of a 90. 13 acre tract of land conveyed Kay I3rown by deed recorded in Vol. 390, Page 132, of the Deed Records of said County and State. Beginning at a stake for corner in the South Boundary Line of I3onham 5t. , said point being the Northeast corner of said Brown tract; i Thence South along the East Boundary Line of said tract, a distance of 1110 ft. i:o a s{;ake for corner; Thence West a clistance of 720 ft, to a stake for corner; Thence Nori;h a distance of 1110 ft. to a stake for corner in the South Boundary Line of Bonham St. ; Thence East along the South Boundary Li.tie of Bonham St. , a clistance of 720 ft. to the place of beginuing; " Thence South a distance of 1110 feet; Thence East with tlie S. B. Line of the Kay Brown tract to tlie 5oui:h East Corner of said tract; ~ Thence North with the E. B. Line oi the Kay Brown tract to a point ~ 300 feet South of the S. B. Line of Highway 82; Thence East and parallel with the S. B. Line of Hi.gliway 82 to the W. S. Line of the present City Lirsiits; Thence South with said West Boundary Li.ne to a point which would be a westward extension of the N. B. Line of Sherman Street to a point 600 feet West of i:he ceni;erline of the oui:er loop of Highway Loop No. 286; Thence South and East and parallel wii;h the centerline aforesaid ai: a dislance of 600 feet from said centerline, to a point in a road which would be the extension of 6th S1;reet, S. E. ; Thence Northwith the W. B. Line of said extension of 6th Street, S. E. to the existing City Limit Line in South Paris. was held at Paris, Texas, on the 28th day of June, A. D, , 1965, wh=ch date is not more than twenty nor less than ten days prior to the institution of annexation pro- ceedings herein; and, WHEREA5, notice of such public hearing was published in the newspaper having general circulatiou in the City of Paris, Texas, and in the above described i;erritory, on the 16th day of June, A. D. , 1965, which date is not more than twenty nor less than ten days prior to the date of such public hearing; and, WHEREAS, the toi;al corporate area of the Gity of Paris, Texas, on the lst day of January, A. D. , 1965, was more than nine times the size of the above de- scribed acreage; and, WHEREAS, the population of the City of Paris, Texas, is 5, 000 or more inhabitants but less than 25, 000 inhabitani;s; and, WHEREAS, the above described territory lies within the extraterritorial jurisdiction of the City of Paris, Texas; and, WHEREAS, the above described territory lies adjacent to and adjoins the City of Paris, Texas; and, WHEREA5, the above described terrii:ary contains less than ten per cent of the present acreage contained in the corporate limits of the Cii:y of Paris, Texas; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CIT Y OF PARI5, TEXAS: Section 1. The following described land and territory lying adjacent to and adjoining the City of Paris, Te:c.as, is hereby added and annexed to the Gity of Paris, Texas, and said terrii:ory hereinafter described shall hereafter be in- cluded within the boundary litnits of the City of Paris, TeYas, and the present boundary limits of such City, at the various points contiguous to the area herein- after described, are altered and amended so as to include said area within the corporate limits of the City of Paris, Texas, to-wii;: 5ituated in the County of Lamar and State of Texas, and being described ►as follows: Beginning at a stalce where the most Western Gity Limi.t Line of the Ci.ty of Pari.s intersects the S. S. Line of Highway 82; Thence West with the S. B. Line of Highway 82 to the North West Corner of a traci; of land belonging to Kay Brown and described as follows: , i Situated in Lamar County, Texas, a pari; of the Isaac Cruise Survey, and being a part of a 90. 13 acre tract of land conveyed Kay Brown by deed recorded in Vol. 390, Page 132, of the Deed Records of said Couni:y and State. Beginning at a stake for corner in the South Boundary Line of Sonham St. , said point being the Northeast corner of said Brown tract; Thence South along the Easi; Boundary Line of said tract, a distance of 1110 ft. to a stake for corner; Thence West a distance of 720 ft. to a stake for corner; Thence North a distance of 1110 ft. to a stake for corner in the South* Soundary Line of Bonham 5t. ; Thence East along the 5outh Boundary Line of Bonham St. , a distance of 720 ft. to the place of beginning; ~ Thence South a distance of 1110 feet; Thence East with the S. B. Line of the Kay Iirown tract to the 5outh East Corner of said tract; Thence North with the E. B. Line of the Kay B.rown tract to a point 300 feet 5outh of the' S. B. Line of Highway 82; Thence •East and parallel with the S. B. Line of Highway 82 to the W. B. Line of the preserit City Limits; Thence South with said West Soundary Line i:o a point which would be a westward extension of the N. B. Line of Sherman Street to a point 600 feet W est of the centerline of the oui:er loop of Highway Loop No. 286; Thence Soui:h and East and parallel with the centerline aforesaid at a distance of 600 feet from said centerline, to a point in a road which would be the extension of 6th Street, S. E. ; Thence North with the W. B. Line of said extension of bth Street, S. E. ~ to the existing Cii;y Limit Li.ne in South Paris. Section 2. The above described territory and the area so annexed shall be a part of the City of Paris, Texas, and i:he property so added hereby shall bear its pro rata part of L-he taxes levied by tlie City of Paris, Texas, and the inhabitants i:hereof shall be entii:led to all of the rights and privileges of all the citizetis and shall be Uound by the acts, ordinances, resolutions and regulations of the City of Paris, Texas. i Section 3. That all of the above and foregoing property shall be, and it is hereby annexed to the Cii;y of Paris, Texas, under the zoning classification of Agricultural as provided for in Zoning Ordinance No. 1710 of the City of Paris, Texas. Section 4. This ordinance shall be published and passed in the manner pro - vided in Article II, Section 7, of the Charter of the City of Paris, Texas, i:hat is, by publishing notice in the Paris News thirty days prior to the date fixed hereby for the final passage of this ordinance, which date is August 9, A.
