Motion to initiate renovation of the old City Council Room.
POLICY ISSUE(S):
Asset Management
The old City Council Room located on the top floor of city hall has had no maintenance since the mid-
1970's with the exception of carpeting which has been replaced once during that period. We have
missing ceiling tiles, worn carpet, and electrical lighting that is no longer energy efficient. Using the
same restricted purpose bond proceeds used to renovate the city hall entry way, the Manager requests to
spend an amount not to exceed $19,000 in beginning needed repairs. The first step would be to uncover
the exterior windows that have been plastered over and replace the missing glass. Second, the feasibility
of removing the drop ceiling and going back to the original tin ceiling would be studied. This was done
in the City Hall entry way and has resulted in many favorable comments. After that, cosmetic repairs to
allow use of the space as a public meeting room or large conference room would be undertaken.
