Paris Municipal Band Commission
A meeting of the members of the Paris Municipal Band Commission was held on
Thursday, May 13, 2004, at 12 noon, in the Conference Room of the Lamar
County Chamber of Commerce.

The meeting was called to order by Chairman Randy Bunch at 12:15 p.m.
As the first order of business, the minutes from the previous meeting held on
January 26, 2004, were unanimously approved as submitted on a motion by
Albert Nichol, seconded by Edwin Pickle.
A policy document for future reference regarding the operations of the Paris
Municipal Band was reviewed and unanimously approved on a motion by Edwin
Pickle, seconded by Albert Nichol. The policy document is attached and made a
part of these minutes.
On a motion by Albert Nichol, seconded by Edwin Pickle, the 2005 Budget for the
Paris Municipal Band was unanimously approved and is attached and made a
part of these minutes.
Under other discussion, the newspaper ads and the posters designed by Albert
Nichol were reviewed and approved for publication. Also, Edwin Pickle agreed to
check with the PHS Athletic Director regarding the availability of the football field
for the fireworks show.
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 1 p.m.

PROPOSED POLICIES
Paris Municipal Band
PURPOSE: To provide summer band concerts for the residents and visitors of
Paris through a volunteer band in Bywaters Park and at the annual fireworks
display.
GUIDANCE: The Band is guided by the Paris Municipal Band Commission
made up of inembers of the community and the Band Director. The
Commissioners are appointed by the Mayor of Paris. The Band Director is hired
by the Commission.
. The National Anthem will be played by the Paris Municipal Band for all
guest accompanists and singers. Taped music will not be allowed
while the band is waiting to perform.
• All guest accompanists and performers will be at the discretion of the
Band Commission.
• Special events for at which the band will perform will include the Crape
Myrtle Queen Coronation and the Rotary Clubs' Fireworks Display.
Other consideration for events will be at the discretion of the Paris
Municipal Band Commission.
• A set program will include the theme song "I Love Paris", the National
Anthem and will last approximately one hour.
