MINUTES OF THE CALLED OF THE LIBRARY
ADVISORY BOARD
AUGUST 3, 2004
The Paris Public Library Advisory Board met in a special calle session
Tuesday, August 3, 2004, at 4:00 PM in the Library with Chair an Nancee
Salzman presiding. The following Board members were presen : Anna
Davis, Carl Lucas, Jackie Alsobrook, Deborah Hatley and Bill ennedy.
Also attending was Priscilla McAnally, Assistant Library Direct r, and
Betty Landon. Sarah Gambill, Jake Street, Walter Williams an Callie
Thompson, Friends' President did not attend.
The Board discussed the proposed 2004-2005 City of Paris budg t and its
affect on the library. Concern was expressed by the Board rega ding the
proposed reduction of library staff by three people. Suggestions for
effectively informing City Council members and patrons of the c anges in
library operations due to this cut in staff were discussed.
Some of the ideas to be implemented include:
Posting a notice within the library informing patrons of the boar 's
concerns. Notice would include the names and phone number fo
contacting their City Councilperson.
Packets of information with details regarding the overall effect
staff inembers to be distributed to Council members as well as
board members.
Library Board members and their friends were encouraged to at
public hearing on the proposed budget when the Council sets the

ADVISORY BOARD
August 17, 2004
The Paris Public Library Advisory Board met in regular sessio Tuesday,
August 17, 2004, at 4:OOPM in the Library with Chairman Nan ee Salzman
presiding. The following Board members were present: Anna avis,
Sarah Gambill, Deborah Hatley, Bill Kennedy, Nancee Salzman Jake
Street, and Walter Williams. Also attending was Priscilla McA ally,
Assistant Library Director. Jackie Alsobrook, Carl Lucas, and allie
Thompson, Friends President, did not attend.
The minutes from the regular July meeting and a called August eeting
were approved.
The Board discussed options regarding the ongoing possible staf
reduction. Some suggestions for informing the public were intro uced.
Those included an informal questionnaire to be handed out with items that
patrons check out from the library. Another idea was a petition irculation
to let City Council members know how many patrons are agains library
budget cuts.
The budget report was favorable.
July circulation statistics were down by 3.02% from last year.
13,837 library visits and a total circulation of 28,742 items.
Children's programming had 4 programs with 128 children and
attending. In the Summer Mobile Outreach 16 programs were h

In the Adult Outreach services there was 1 program which 12
