RECOMMENDED MOTION:
Move to accept the proposal from Bobby Smallwood Construction Company to extend the upstairs hallway and
construct an exit doorway and exterior stairway at Fire Station No. 1. This project needed to provide an
additional means of egress (safety) for persons using the upstairs training area and so building complies with
current Building and Fire Codes.
POLICY ISSUE(S):
Code Compliance and Safety Issue.
BACKGROUND:
When first constructed, Fire Station No. 1 did not meet all building and fire code requirements. A few
years ago we began a systematic process of correcting those inadequacies. The completion of this exit
hallway with exterior staircase is the last major component of that strategic plan.
Since the FD is tasked with ensuring fire code compliancy within the City of Paris, we should comply
ourselves.
