Howard Corriston's term on the Civil Service Commission expires 12-31-11. City staff has contacted
Mr. Corriston and he does not wish to be reappointed. Melba Harris is agreeable to serve in this
capacity and has previous service on this board.

RESOLUTION N0.
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, TEXAS,
APPOINTING MELBA HARRIS AS A MEMBER OF THE FIRE FIGHTERS'
AND POLICE OFFICERS' CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
PARIS, TEXAS; MAKING OTHER FINDINGS AND PROVISIONS RELATED
TO THE SUBJECT; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the term of office of Howard Corriston, as a member of the Fire
Fighters' and Police Officers' Civil Service Commission of the City of Paris, Texas will expire
on December 31, 2011; and,
WHEREAS, The City has received one application from Melba Harris who has
previous service on the Civil Service Commission; and,
WHEREAS, the City Council hereby finds and determines that Melba Harris should
be appointed to the Civil Service Commission to fill the vacancy of Howard Corriston,
expiring December 31, 2011.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
PARIS, TEXAS:
Section 1. That the findings set out in the preamble to this resolution are hereby
in all things approved.
Section 2. That the following appointment is hereby made to the Civil Service
Commission: Melba Harris to serve a three-year term beginning January 1, 2012 until
December 31, 2014.
Section 3. That this resolution shall be effective from and after its date of
passage.
