SPECIAL MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL, CITY OF PARIS
MONDAY, OCTOBER 4, 2004
The City Council of the City of Paris met in Special Session, Monday, October
4, 2004 at 9:00 a.m. in the Community Exhibit Building at the Red River
Valley Fairgrounds, 570 East Center Street, Paris, Texas. Mayor Curtis Fendley
called the meeting to order with the following Council members present: Jim
Bell, Jay Guest, Mary Ann Fisher, Don Wilson, Karen Wilkerson and Rick
Poston. Also present were Interim City Manager Larry Shaw, City Attorney
Larry W. Schenk and Asst. City Clerk Sherian Dixon.
Mayor Fendley reminded the Council that they were here to conduct personal
interviews with City Manager Candidates.
Chris Hartung from the Waters Consulting Group came forward and introduced
Jeffrey Powell of Bridgeport, Texas. After an extensive question and answer
period, Mayor Fendley thanked Mr. Powell.
Mayor Fendley called for a ten minute break at 10:15 a.m. Mayor Fendley
reconvened the session and 10:27 a.m.
Mayor Fendley introduced the next City Manager candidate, Mike Randall
from
Monet, Missouri. Following the question and answer period, Mayor Fendley
thanked him for his time.
Mayor Fendley announced that there would be more interviews on Thursday.
Interim City Manager Larry Shaw said there was a conflict at the Civic Center
on Thursday. He explained that the regular City Council meeting would be at
th
6 p,m. October 7 at the Civic Center and that the Planning and Zoning
meeting was scheduled prior to that in the same room. Councilman Wilson said
he felt it would only be fair to all the City Manager candidates to be
interviewed in the same setting.
Following a discussion, it was decided to do the interviews at the Fairgounds
following the City Council meeting at the Civic Center at 7:00 p.m. Thursday,
October 7, 2004.
There being no further business, the meeting adjourned.
