<br />DRAFT <br /> <br />F:ALICE\RESWORK\CURRENT\ Water Conservation Res 2005 <br />March 29, 2005 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, <br />PARIS, TEXAS, ADOPTING THE CITY OF PARIS WATER <br />CONSERVATION PLAN IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE REQUIREMENTS <br />OF TITLE 30, TEXAS ADMINISTRATIVE CODE, CHAPTER 288, SUB- <br />CHAPTERS A AND B; MAKING OTHER FINDINGS AND PROVISIONS <br />RELATED TO THE SUBJECT; REPEALING ALL PRIOR WATER <br />CONSERVATION PLANS IN CONFLICT HEREWITH; PROVIDING A <br />SAVINGS CLAUSE; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, maintaining a clean, reliable supply of potable water is essential to the health, <br />safety, and welfare of the citizens of the city of Paris; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, supplies of clean, potable water continue to diminish as a result of increasing <br />population demands, increased industrial demands, water pollution, and other reasons; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Texas Legislature has recognized the need to preserve and conserve the <br />potable water supplies of the state of Texas by adopting omnibus, comprehensive legislation <br />intended to preserve, regulate, and enhance the water supplies of the state of Texas; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Paris likewise recognizes the need to maintain <br />and preserve the City's supplies of potable water; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, in order to preserve the City's water supplies, comply with the requirements <br />of State law, and in the interest of preserving the health, safety, and welfare of the citizens of the <br />city of Paris, the City Council deems it necessary and appropriate to adopt a Water Conservation <br />Plan for the City of Paris; NOW, THEREFORE; <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, PARIS, <br />TEXAS: <br /> <br />Section 1. That the fIDdings set out in the preamble to this resolution are hereby in all <br />things approved. <br /> <br />Section 2. That the City Council does hereby in all things approve and adopt a Water <br />Conservation Plan for the City of Paris, as the same is set out in Exhibit A, attached hereto and for <br />all purposes incorporated herein, and does hereby direct the City Manager and the City staff to in <br />all things implement the Water Conservation Plan approved herein. <br /> <br />Section 3.
