RESOLUTION NO. __________
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS,
PARIS, TEXAS, APPROVING AND AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO
EXECUTE AND THE CITY CLERK TO ATTEST TO A CONTRACT FOR
THE COLLECTION AND DISPOSAL OF SOLID WASTE, IN SUCH FORM
AS SHALL BE NEGOTIATED BY THE CITY MANAGER AND APPROVED
BY THE CITY ATTORNEY; MAKING OTHER FINDINGS AND
PROVISIONS RELATED TO THE SUBJECT; AND PROVIDING AN
EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS,
the City Council has authorized the City Manager to initiate various actions
intended to generate additional revenue or reduce cost to the City operations; and,
WHEREAS,
among those activities authorized by the City Council for the City Manager to
pursue was a contract related to collection and disposal of solid waste; and,
WHEREAS,
the City Manager has sought proposals from various qualified waste disposal
firms related to various arrangements for the collection and disposal of solid waste in the City of
Paris; and,
WHEREAS,
the City Manager has recommended to the City Council the authorization of
NOW,
a contract for the collection and disposal of solid waste within the City of Paris;
THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, PARIS,
TEXAS:
Section 1.
That the findings set out in the preamble to this resolution are hereby in all things
approved.
Section 2.
That the Mayor shall be and is hereby authorized to execute and the City Clerk
to attest to a contract for the collection and disposal of solid waste, in such form as the City Manager
shall negotiate and the City Attorney shall approve.
Section 3.
That the aforesaid contract shall contain such terms and provisions for collection
of solid waste and disposal of same as the City Manager shall deem appropriate, at such price and
cost as shall be beneficial to the City.
Section 4.
That this resolution shall be effective from and after its date of passage.
