RECOMMENDED MOTION:
Deliberate and provide direction to City Staff on the possible expansion of the remaining portion of a
two lane road on S. Collegiate Drive between Clarksville Street and Jefferson Road and a second entry
into the Police and Court Building from S. Collegiate Drive.
POLICY ISSUE(S):
Bond Money
BACKGROUND:
The City Council has several option as to how to use the remaining bond money issued for South
Collegiate Drive:
• Deposit the remaining bond money in an Interest & Sinking fund to make principal payments.
• Widen the remaining portion of two lane roadway to three lanes.
• Add a second entrance into the Police and Court Building.
• Add a parking lot for the Trail de Paris
• Overlay the remaining five lane section of S. Collegiate with a mill and asphalt overlay, plant
mix seal or slurry seal. The type of overlay will depend on an assessment of the overall roadway
condition.
• Add a turn lane into the north entrance to the soccer fields.
• Construct Sidewalks from the Sports Complex/Trail head to the High School along S. Collegiate.
The bond covenants limit the area where the money can be spent. The limits are on S. Collegiate Drive
between Clarksville St. and Loop 286.
If City Council elects to spend the money on roadway improvements an engineering consultant will
need to be selected to design the project, prepare plans and specifications and prepare bid documents.
