A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS,
PARIS, TEXAS, AMENDING RESOLUTION NO. 2005-076, WHICH
ORDERED A CITY-WIDE SPECIAL ELECTION TO BE HELD IN THE
CITY OF PARIS ON THE SECOND SATURDAY IN SEPTEMBER, 2005,

THE SAME BEING THE 10 DAY OF SEPTEMBER, 2005, TO PROVIDE
A SUBSTITUTE POLLING PLACE FOR VOTERS IN DISTRICT ONE (1),
THE SAME BEING IN THE WESTSIDE BUILDING RATHER THAN
BUILDING B, BUT STILL ON THE GROUNDS OF THE RED RIVER
VALLEY FAIRGROUNDS, DUE TO THE UNAVAILABILITY OF
BUILDING B ON THE ELECTION DATE; MAKING OTHER FINDINGS
AND PROVISIONS RELATED TO THE SUBJECT; AND PROVIDING AN
EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS,
the City Council has, by prior Resolution No. 2005-076, adopted June 27, 2005
ordered a City-Wide Special Election to be held in the City of Paris on the second Saturday in

September, the same being the 10 day of September, 2005, for the purpose of considering a
proposition calling for the adoption of an ordinance prohibiting the City of Paris from privatizing the
collection, handling, and disposition of residential garbage, trash, and rubbish, and providing for the
method of fixing charges for such services; and,
WHEREAS,
the polling place stated in said Resolution No. 2005-076 for voters for District
1 is designated as the Red River Valley Fairgrounds, Building B, 570 East Center Street; and,
WHEREAS,
because of the timing of said election, the same being a Special Election, the
traditional polling place of Building B is unavailable, having been rented prior to the date of the
announcement of the election, and an alternative polling place needs to be designated; and,
WHEREAS,
the Red River Valley Fair Association has offered a building designated as the
Westside Building, also located at the Red River Valley Fairgrounds, with the same mailing address,
the same being 570 E. Center Street, as an alternative location for said polling place; and,
WHEREAS,
the City Council finds and determines that the aforesaid Westside Building,
because it is also located on the Red River Valley Fairgrounds, and is of sufficient size, and is
available on the designated date, remains the most practical and reasonable choice for a substitute
NOW, THEREFORE,
polling place for the voters of District 1 for this Special Election only;
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, PARIS,
TEXAS:
Section 1.
That the findings set out in the preamble to this resolution are hereby in all things
approved.
Section 2.
That Section 4 of Resolution No. 2005-076, which ordered a City-wide Special
Election to be held in the City of Paris on the second Saturday in September, 2005, the same being

the 10 day of September, 2005, to consider a proposition calling for the adoption of an ordinance
prohibiting the City of Paris from privatizing the collection, handling, and disposition of residential
garbage, trash, and rubbish, and providing for the method of fixing charges for such service, shall be
and is hereby amended to designate an alternative polling place for the voters of District One (1) due
to the unavailability of the established polling place, the same being Building B, Red River Valley
Fairgrounds, with the aforesaid alternative polling place to be designated as a polling place for the
purpose of this Special Election only, and likewise located on the Red River Valley Fairgrounds, said
amendment to Section 4 to read as follows:
Section 4.
“ That the polling places and election officials of such election shall
be as follows:
District One (1):
Polling place:Red River Valley Fairgrounds, Westside Building
570 E. Center Street
Officials:Edith Bills , Presiding Judge
Frankie Dangerfield, Alternate Presiding Judge

Section 3.
That all other terms and provisions of Resolution No. 2005-076, including the
designation of all other polling places as set out in Section 4 of said resolution, shall remain in full
force and effect.
Section 4.
That this resolution shall be effective from and after its date of passage.
