Library Advisory Board July 18, 2005 MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE LmRARY ADVISORY BOARD J Doe 15, 2005 The Paris Public Library Advisory Board met in regular session Wednesday, June 15, at 4:00PM in the Library with Chainnan Nancee Salzman presiding. The following Board members were present: Jackie Alsobrook, Anna Davis, Sarah Gambill, Deborah Hatley, Bill Kennedy, Carl Lucas, Nancee Salzman and Jake Street. Also attending were Priscilla McAnally, Library Director, and Amanda Green, Friends of the Library President. Absent was Walter Williams. The minutes from the May meeting were approved. Nominating committee members Sarah Gambill and Jake Street presented next year's proposed slate of officers. Serving as Chairman will be Bill Kennedy, Vice-Chairman will be Jake Street and Secretary will be Deborah Hatley. Three names were presented to the Board to replace outgoing members Anna Davis, N ancee Salzman, and Walter Williams. The Board approved Debbie Anderson, Audrey Lakes, and Fran Neeley be recommended to the City Manager and City Council at the July 11 Council meeting for considera~ion as members of the Library Advisory Board. The budget report was favorable. Ms. McAnally submitted budget requests for the 2005-2006 fiscal year to the City Manager. A personnel request in the proposed budget included reclassification of a Clerk n to Library paraprofessional. May circulation was down 21 % from the same month of 2004, and library visits were down 11 %. A total of 432 new items were added to the collection in May. Children's programming in May included 8 programs with 218 children and 49 adults attending. Memorial donations for May totaled $377. I ,. Library Advisory Board July 18, 2005 Page 2 Friends of the Library President Amanda Green distributed a copy of the newsletter soon to be mailed to members. The first Annual Friends Book Sale will be held on Saturday, September 3,2005, in the Library. A preview for members of the Friends will be conducted on Friday evening from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. prior to the sale for the public. Dr. Green reported new membership totals at 97. Also mentioned by Dr. Green was information about earning money for the library while shopping online. By registering with shopforthelibrary.net a percentage of the purchase price of items will benefit the library.
