24-REPLACEMENT OF CAMERAS FOR COUNCIL ROOMSubmittal Date: 3-30-12 Council Date: A_o_t) City Manager RECOMMENDED MOTION: Not an action item. Update on status of projects. POLICY ISSUE(S): Administration Gene Anderson 24. The current year's budget has $15,000 for replacement cameras for the council room. We have developed problems with the switcher which also now needs replacement. I asked Jon McFadden to investigate and price replacement systems. His recommendation is to purchase the VDESKII system which has a catalog price of $22,000. He believe~isson is ren negotiated downward. Given the importance of videotaping and broadcasting our council meetings, p Quested to direct Mr. McFadden to go and negotiate the best deal possible below the $22,000 catalog price. Last September, the Council authorized the renovation of the old council chambers. To date, the room has been gutted, the drop ceiling removed, air/heat conduit relocated above the tin ceiling, and the electrical boxes placed for the new lighting. The Historic Preservation Commission is requiring historically accurate replacement windows for the next phase. The windows will be finished aluminum clad with energy efficient thermal window panes. The cost for the windows will be approximately $25,000 plus installation of approximately $8,000. In accordance with the Council's earlier direction, this capital expenditure over $15,000 is being brought before the Council for approval. Last Fall, City crews perform numerous special cleanup projects focusing first on the main entry ways to the City and then branching off from there on other major problem areas. In doing so, the current budget of $28,000 has been exceeded with the Spring & Summer mowing season now arriving. The Council should expect an over expenditure in our contract labor line item in order for the City to perform necessary work.
