AN ORDINANCE CLOSING THE 20 FOOT ALLEY BEGINNING AT THE EAST
BOUNDARY LINE OF 6TH STREET S.E. GOING EAST A DISTANCE OF
APPROXIMATELY 615 FEET AND ENDING AT THE WEST BOUNDARY LINE OF 8TH
STREET S.E. BETWEEN WASHINGTON STREET AND HEARON STREET;
DECLARING NO NECESSITY OR NEED OF SAID ALLEY FOR CITY USE OTHER
THAN FOR DRAINAGE AND UTILITY EASEMENTS, WHICH ARE EXPRESSLY
RETAINED BY THE CITY OF PARIS; AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE
OF FEBRUARY 9, 1998.
WHEREAS, it has been brought to the attention of the City Council of the City of Paris
that a 20 foot alley, beginning at the East Boundary Line of 6th Street S.E. going East a distance
of approximately 615 feet and ending at the West Boundary Line of 8th Street S.E. between
Washington Street and Hearon Street, is of no use as an alley to the City of Paris or to its citizens,
but is of use and necessary to the City of Paris and its citizens for drainage and utility easement
purposes, and the City Council so finds; NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS:
Section 1. That the 20 foot alley, beginning at the East Boundary Line of 6th Street S.E.
going East a distance of approximately 615 feet and ending at the West Boundary Line of 8th
Street S.E. between Washington Street and Hearon Street, described in Exhibit A, attached
hereto, is found to be of no use as an alley to the City of Paris or its citizens, but is of use and
necessary to the City of Paris and its citizens for drainage and utility easement purposes; therefore,
such alley is hereby closed, with the City of Paris retaining drainage and utiliry easements.
Section 2. This ordinance shall become effective on February 9, 1998.

ALLEY DESCRIPTION
SITUATED within the corporate limits of the City of Paris, County of Lamar and State
of Texas, and being the 20 foot alley located in Block 5, Gibbons lst Addition, and being more
particularly described as follows:
BEGINNING at a point in the East Boundary Line of 6th Street S. E. , being
the Northwest corner of Lot 13 of said Block 5;
THENCE East along the North Boundary lines of Lots 13, 14, 15, 16, 17,
18, 19, 10, 21, 22, 23, and 24, of said Block 5 a distance of approximately 615
feet to a point in the West Boundary Line of 8th Street S.E., being the Northeast
corner of Lot 24 of said Block 5;
THENCE North along the West Boundary Line of 8th Street S.E. a distance
of 20 feet to the Southeast corner of Lot 12 of said Block 5;
THENCE West along the South Boundary Lines of Lots 12, 11, 10, 9, 8,
7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, and 1 of said Block 5 a distance of approximately 615 feet to a
point in the East Boundary Line of 6th Street S. E. , being the Southwest corner of
Lot 1 of said Block 5;
THENCE South along the East Boundary Line of 6th Street S.E. a distance
of 20 feet to the point of beginning, containing approximately 12,300 square feet
of land.
