AN ORDINANCE CLOSING FIFTEEN (15) FEET OF THE RIGHT-OF-WAY OF
THE STREET KNOWN AS PARIS BOULEVARD, BEGINNING WITH THE EAST
BOUNDARY LINE OF CHURCH STREET AND ENDING WITH THE WEST
BOUNDARY LINE OF 6TH STREET S.E.; DECLARING NO NECESSITY OR NEED OF
SAID NIFTEEN (15) FEET OF RIGHT-OF-WAY FOR CITY USE; AND PROVIDING NOR
AN EFFECTIVE DATE OF MARCH 23, 1998.
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Paris did heretofore, on the Sth day of
November, 1987, by motion reflected in the minutes, approve the reduction of the right-of-way
width of Paris Boulevard, between Church Street and 6th Street S.E., froin eighty (80) feet to
sixty (60) feet, retaining ten (10) feet for utility easement; and,
WHEREAS, the City Engineer has determined that existing utilities are within the
preserved right-of-way and, therefore, there is no need to retain a utility easement in addition to
the preserved sixty (65) foot right-of-way; and,
WHEREAS, it is appropriate that the reduction of the right-of-way width of Paris
Boulevard be accomplished by declaring the north fifteen (15) feet of said right-of-way as surplus
right-of-way, being of no use for street purposes to the City of Paris or its citizens, and the City
Council so finds; NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS:
Section 1. That the north fifteen (15) feet of the right-of-way of Paris Boulevard, save
and except the eighty (80) foot width of 3rd Street S. E. at its intersection with the north side of
Paris Boulevard, between the east boundary line of Church Street and the west boundary line of
6th Street S.E., as depictetl on Exllibit A, attached hereto, is found to be of no use as a street to
the City of Paris or its citizens; therefore, such street right-of-way is hereby closed.
Section 2. This ordinance shall become effective on March 23, 1998.
