AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF PARIS, PARIS, TEXAS, AMENDING ADOPT ORDINANCE NO. 98-021 AND EXHIBIT AG ARET LLOORDINANCES OR PAR S OF
THE 13TH DAY OF APRIL, 1998; REPEAL
ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH; AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE
DATE OF JULY 13, 1998.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, PARIS,
TEXAS:
Section 1. That Ordinance No. 98-021, passed and adopted on the 13t1i day of April,
1998, be, and the same is hereby, amended so that such shall read as follows:
"AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF PARIS, PARI5, TEXAS,
ADOPTING AN OFFICIAL CIT ~A~~ ~ ONFLICT HEREWITH;
pRDINANCES OR PARTS OF O~
AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE OF APRIL 13, 1998.
"WHEREAS, the City of Paris did heretofore, on the 12th day of
Deceinber, 1997, enter into an agreed order with the City of Reno eiljoining the
City of Paris from enforcing municipal ordinances or providing municipal services
in Tracts 5, 7, 8, 9, 10, and 12 described in the annexation ordinailce introduced
to the City Council oti November 6, 1997, in the event such ordinance was later
adopted by the City Council; and,
"WHEREAS, said agreed order does not affect the remaining tracts
described in said annexatioii ordinance, same being Tracts l, 2, 3, 4, 6, 11, and
13;and,
°WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Paris did heretofore, on the
15th day of December, 1997, adopt Ordinaiice No. 97-059, same being the
annexation ordinance introduced on November 6, 1997, which ordinance provided
for the extension of certain boundary limits of the City of Paris and the annexation
of 5,389.031 acres, more or less; and,
"WHEREAS, it is deemed appropriate that the City Council adopt an
Official City Limit Map that includes all of the newly annexed areas; and,
°WHEREAS, it is further deemed appropriate that, in the event tlle Court,
in the pending lawsuit styled citv of Reno Texas v Civ of Pari~, Texas: Cause
No. 64934, in the 62nd Judicial District Court of Lamar County, Texas, overturns
the annexation of any of the areas shown on Exhibit A, attached hereto, that are
also described as Tracts 5, 7, 8, 9, 10, and 12 in Ordinance No. 97-059, passed
and adopted on the 15th day of December, 1997, this Ordinance become null and
void and of no further effect immediately upon such finding; NOW,
THEREFORE,
"BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
PARIS, PARIS, TEXAS:
"Section 1. That the map attached hereto as Exhibit A, be, and the same
is hereby, adopted as the Official City Limit Map of the City of Paris.
"5ection 2. That, in the event the Court, in the pending lawsuit styled Cly-
of Reno TeXac v Citv of Paris Texas; Cause No. 64934, in the 62nd Judicial
District Court of Lamar County, Texas, overturns the annexation of any of the
areas shown on Exhibit A, attach ~059, tassed and adopted of the 15 h day of
8, 9, 10, and 12 in Ordinance No. P
December, 1997, this Ordinance will become null and void and of no further effect
immediately upon such finding.
"Section 3. That all ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith
are hereby expressly repealed.
"Section 4. That this ardinance shall become effective on April 13, 1998."
Section 2. That Exlubit A to Ordinance No. 98-021 be, and the same is hereby, amended
in the form shown in Exhibit A, attached hereto.
Section 3. That all ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby
expressly repealed.
Section 4. That this ordinance shall become effective on July 13, 1998.
