ORDINANCE NO. 96-011
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF PARIS, PARIS, TEXAS, PROVIDING THAT THE
CODE OF ORDINANCES, CITY OF PARI5, BE AMENDED BY REVISING CHAPTER
25, ARTICLE III, SECTIONS 25-36 AND 25-37 OF SAID CODE; PROVIDING FOR
ADOPTION OF THE STANDARD GAS CODE, 1994 EDITION; PROVIDING FOR
DELETIONS, MODIFICATIONS AND AMENDMENTS TO SAID CODE; PROVIDING
FOR A PENALTY NOT TO EXCEED $2,000.00; REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES OR
PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH; AND PROVIDING FOR AN
EFFECTIVE DATE OF MARCH 1, 1996.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS:
Section L That Chapter 25, Article III, Sections 25-36 and 25-37 of the Code of
Ordinances of the City of Paris, Paris, Texas, be, and the same are hereby, amended so that
such shall read as follows:
"Sec. 25-36. Standard Gas Code - Adoption.
"For the purpose of establishing rules and regulations for governing gas piping
systems extending from the point of delivery to the inlet connection of appliances,
and the installation and operation of residential and commercial gas appliances
and related accessories, the design, fabrication, installation, test and operation of
such systems for fuel gases such as natural gas, manufactured gas, undiluted
liquefied petroleum gases, liquefied petroleum gas-air, or mixture thereof, for use
in, on or about any and all premises in the City, that certain gas code known as
the Standard Gas Code, 1994 Edition, save and except such portions as are
deleted, modified or amended by this article, is hereby adopted and incorporated
as fully as if set out at length herein. A copy of such Code has been and is now
on file in the office of the City Clerk, and the provisions thereof shall be
controlling as above stated.
"Sec. 25-37. Standard Gas Code - Amendments.
"The Code adopted by Section 25-36 is hereby amended as set out in this
section:
"Section 306.1, Metallic Fipe, is amended by deleting the second sentence.
"Section 306.2, Metallic Tubing, is amended by deleting the first and fourth
sentences.
"Section 308.5, Piping Passing Above Grade Through Solid Floors or Solid
Walls, is amended by deleting Subparagraph 2.
"Section 110, Violations and Penalties, is amended to read as follows:
"`Any person, firm or corporation, or agent who shall violate a
provision of this Code, or who fails to comply herewith or with
any of the provisions hereof, or who violates a detailed statement
or plan submitted and approved hereunder, shall be guilty of a
misdemeanor and, upon conviction, shall be fined in any sum not
to exceed two thousand dollars ($2,000.00), and each and every
day's continuance of any violation of the provisions hereof shall
constitute and be deemed a separate offense.
Section 2. Any person violating any of the provisions of this ordinance shall be guilty
of a misdemeanor and, upon conviction, shall be fined in any sum not to exceed $2,000.00, and
each and every day's continuance of any violation of the above enumerated section shall
constitute and be deemed a separate offense.
Section 3. All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby
expressly repealed.
Section 4. This ordinance shall become effective on March 1, 1996.
