ORDINANCE NO. 95-014 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF PARIS, PARIS, TEXAS, PROVIDING THAT ORDINANCE NO. 93-002 PASSED AND ADOPTED ON THE 7TH DAY JANUARY, 1993, BE AMENDED BY REVISING THE PREAMBLE, AND SECTION 1 OF SAID ORDINANCE; PROVIDING THAT THE REFERENCE THEREIN TO BE CHANGED FROM MCKINLEY JOHNSON, DBA PRIIIE OF PARIS TAXICAB TO HERSHEL BIGLOW, DBA CITY CAB OF PARIS; REFEALING ALL ORDINANCES OR PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH; AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE OF JUNE 9, 1995. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY' COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS: Section 1. That the preamble and Section 1 of Ordinance No. 93-002 of the City of Paris, Paris, Texas, be amended so that such shall read as follows: "AN ORDINANCE GRANTING TO HERSHEL BIGLOW, DBA CITY CAB OF PARIS, A FRANCHISE TO USE THE PUBLIC STREETS, ALLEYS AND HIGHWAYS OF THE CITY OF PARIS FOR THE PURPOSE OF TRANSPORTING PASSENGERS FOR HIRE IN MOTOR VEHICLES FOR A PERIOD OF FIVE (5) YEARS, BEGINNING DECEMBER 14, 1992, AND ENDING DECEMBER 13, 19979 UPON THE TERMS AND CONDITIONS HEREINAFTER PRESCRIBED; PROVIDING FOR THE REGULATION OF SAID BUSINESS; PROVIDING FOR THE PAYMENT OF A TAX FOR SUCH PRIVILEGE AND USE OF SUCH STREETS, ALLEYS AND HIGHWAYS; PROVIDING FOR THE TERMINATION OF SUCH GRANT UPON SPECIFIED CONDITIONS; PROVIDING FOR TAXICAB STAND5 FOR USE OF SAID GRANTEE; PROVIDING FOR PUBLIC LIABILITY INSURANCE ON THE MOTOR VEHICLES AND EQUIPMENT OF SAID GRANTEE; PROVIDING FOR THE SUPERVISION OF SAID BUSINESS AND INSPECTION OF ITS VEHICULAR EQUIPMENT BY THE OFFICIALS OF THE CITY OF PARIS; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. Section 1. There is hereby granted to Hershel Biglow, dba City Cab of Paris, hereinafter called grantee, the right, privilege and franchise for a period of five (5) years, beginning December 14, 1992, and ending December 13, 1997, to operate a taxicab service in the City of Paris and on the streets, alleys and public ways within the City Limits of said City for the transportation of passengers for hire. The grantee herein shall maintain the principal office and place of business of said business within the corporate limits of the City of Paris, where the headquarters of said business shall be maintained." Section 2. All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby expressly repealed. Section 3. Within ten (10) days after the passage of this ordinance by the City Council, the grantee herein sha11 file with the City Clerk, in writing, the acceptance of the terms and provisions of this grant. Section 4. Introduced, read and passed on first reading on February 13, 1995, at a regular meeting of the City Council of the City of paris; second reading at a regular meeting of the City Council on March 20, 1995; and final reading at a regular meeting of the City Council on April 10, 1995. This ordinance shall become effective sixty (60) days from the date of the third and final reading, being June 9, 1995.
