06-D Library Adv Bd Library Advisory Board September 16, 2005 MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE LmRARY ADVISORY BOARD August 17, 20, 2005 The Paris Public Library Advisory Board met in regular session Wednesday, August 17,2005, at 4:00PM in the City Hall Council Chambers with Chairman Bill Kennedy presiding. The following Board members were present: Jackie Alsobrook, Sarah Gambill, Deborah Hatley, Bill Kennedy, Audrey Lakes, Fran Neeley, and Jake Street. Also attending were Priscilla McAnally, Library Director, and Amanda Green, Friends of the Library President Absent were Debbie Anderson and Carl Lucas. The minutes from the July meeting were approved. NETLS Lay Representatives from the Advisory Board, Jackie Alsobrook and Sarah Gambill, agreed to continue to serve for another one-year term. Consolidation of Library trust funds was discussed. Two new funds: Library Expendable Fund and Library Permanent Fund would be used to simplify the use of library monies. Some concern was expressed regarding requests to honor family names of donors. Board moved to maintain donor names in subcategories of trust funds. The budget report was favorable. July circulation statistics were down 29% from the same month of 2004, and library visits were down 48%. A total of 351 new items were added to the collection in July. Children's programming in July included 6 programs with 205 children and 59 adults attending. Memorial donations for July totaled $953. 1 t Library Advisory Board September 16, 2005 Page 2 Friends of the Library President Amanda Green reported that volunteers were continuing to prepare for the upcoming book sale to be held in the Gallery September 2-3. Advertisement for the sale will be seen in flyers and on banners around town. Dr. Green also reported that local hospital administration agreed to allow the placement of information within the hospital related to memorial donations for the library. Ms. McAnally gave an update on the installation of the Polaris Integrated Library System. The Library will be closed August 22-24 and will reopen on August 25 with the addition of 8 new computers purchased with funds donated from the Friends of the Library at a cost of $7, 284. Ms. McAnally will continue to update Library policies. The Circulation portion of the policies is almost complete for Board review next month. The meeting adjourned at 4:50 PM.
