ORDINANCE NO. 94-024
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF' PARIS, PARIS, TEXAS, PROVIDING THAT THE
CODE OF ORDINANCES, CITY OF PARIS, PARIS, TEXAS~ BE AMENDED BY ADDING
A SECTION TO BE NUMBERED, 2-196 OF SAID CODE; PROVIDING FOR THE
ESTABLISHMENT OF CHARGES FOR REQUESTS FOR PUBLIC RECORDS; REPEALING
ALL ORDINANCES OR PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH; AND
PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE OF MAY 9, 1994.
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Paris find that the following charges are not
excessive; NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY C'OUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS:
Section 1. That the Code of Ordinances of the City of Paris, Paris, Texas, be amended
by adding a section to be numbered 2-196, to read as follows:
"Section 2-196. Charges for requests for public records.
(a) In order for the City of Paris to recover part of the cost in answering public
records requests, the following charges have been established:

(b) 'I'he City Council rnay waive the charges listed in this seclion if it Vinds and
states in a Resolution that the furnishing of the particular information primarily beneFits
the general public.
(c) The City Council of the City of Paris may waive or reduce the charges listed
in this section if it determines sucli waiver or reduction of the charges is in the public
interest.
(d) A deposit may be required if the amount of such charges exceed $20.00.
Section 2. All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are expressly repealed.
Section 4. This ordinance shall become effective on May 9, 1994.
