06-B Main St. Adv Bd 7-14-05 MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE ~IN STREET ADVISORY BOARD Aikin JuJ.y 14,2005 Building -Downtown 23 East: Plaza 3:00 p.m. raris A meeting of the members of the Paris Main Street Advisory Board was held Wed. July 14, 2005 at 3 p.m., in the Aikin Building. Zach Saffle, Chairman, presided. PRESENT: Barbara Wilson, Jennifer Long, Walt Brown (Alt.) ABSENT: Bailey Gant (Alt. ), Renee Harvey (Alt.), Linda Suarez, David House, Pike Burkhart (Alt.), Drew Crawford, Suzy Harper Zach Saffle called the meeting to order at 3:00 p.m. June 13, 2005 minutes were reviewed by board members and a motion was made by Barbara Wilson. Jennifer Long seconded and minutes were unanimously approved. Committee Reports ~ Organization Committee - No Report ~ Promotions Committee - No Report ~ Design Committee Barbara Wilson, Co-Chair of the committee reported that a meeting is scheduled for August 3, 2005 to discuss a master plan for the downtown plaza. ~ Economic Restructuring Committee - No Report Report from MS Coordinator: Pocket Park - A grant from the Meadows Foundation will be pursued, however part of the grant application process requires a community supported financial commitment. Essentially we would need to show $50,000 in support. 2 members of Main Street and 2 members of the Historical Preservation Committee will be appointed to establish community fundraising efforts. Main Street has requested that Coordinator speak with Waxahachie MS program to identify how they funded their pocket park. Page 1 of 2 T I Demolition by Neglect - A definition was given. Procedure was explained. Once a building has been reported, a courtesy letter is sent to the owner of the stated property and they have 10 days to comply with code requirements. Board members were encouraged to report buildings that meet the demolition by neglect criteria. Landscape Plan for the Plaza - MS Coordinator explained that a master plan would greatly increase effieciency and planning for the plaza area. If an identified plan existed then our parks, public works, community members, merchants and board members would all be on the same page with planned development/maintenance.
