ORDINANCE N0. 89-031
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF PARIS, PARIS, TEXAS, PROVIDING
THAT ORllINANCE N0. 1710 BE AMENDED: PROVIDING FOR THE DELETION
OF PUBLIC HOUSING AS A SCHEDULED USE IN PARAGRAPH 8-101;
PROVIDING FOR A PENALTY NOT TO EXCEED $2,000.00; REPEALING ALL
ORDINANCES OR PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH; AND
PRUVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE OF SEPTEMBER 1, 1989.
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Paris deems it to
be in the best interest of the citizens of Paris to amend the
Zoning Ordinance of the City ot Paris so as to remove any
distinction between Public Housing and Private Housing to insure
that said ordinance is not in violation of the spirit of the law
of the land as announced by the Supreme Court of the United
States on November 7, 1988, in Town of Huntington, New York V.
Huntin ton Branch, National Association For The Advancement of
Colored People, 10 S.Ct. 276 1 8 ; NOW THEREFORE,
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS:
Section 1. That Urdinance No. 1710 of the City of Paris,
Paris, Texas, be amended by deleting Public Housing as a
Scheduled Use in Paragraph $-101.
Section 2. Any person violating any of the provisions of
this ordinance shall be guilty of a Misdemeanor, and upon
conviction shall be fined in any sum not to exceed $2,000.00, and
each and every day's continuance of any violation of the above
enumerated ordinance shall constitute and be deemed a separate
offense.
Section 3. Al1 ordinances or parts of ordinances in
conflict herewith are hereby expressly repealed.
Section 4. This ordinance shall become effective
September l, 1989.
