AN OF,DINANCE OF THE CITY OF PARIS, PARIS, TEXAS,
PROVIDING THAT THE CODE OF ORDINANCES, CITY OF PARIS, BE
AMENDED BY REVISING SECTION 262-9 (j); PROVIDING FOR
POLITICAL SIGN HEIGHT AND WIDTH; PROVIDING FOR A PENALTY NOT
TO EXCEED $500.00; REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES OR PARTS OF
ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH; AND PROVIUING FOR AN
EFFECTIVE DATE OF NiARCH l, 1988.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUIVCIL OF THE CITY OF
PARIS:
Section l. That the Code of Ordinances of the City
of Paris, Paris, Texas, be amended by revising Section 262-9
(j) so that such shall read as follows:
"Sec. 262-9. Prohibited Signs.
(j) Political Si ns. No political sign,
other than i oar sll be permitted more than
sixty days be£ore an election nor more than ten
days after an election. No political sign will be
permitted upori public property. No political sign
will be premitted upon private property without
permission from the cwner of such private property
first being obtained. No political sign shall be
placed without a sign permit. Only one sign
permit is required for the placement of political
signs which do not exceed 32 square feet in area
and is no taller than 4 f.eet and no wider than 8
feet. Political signs of a size of 4 square feet
or smaller may be placed without a sign permit."
Section 2. Any person violating any or the pro-
visions of this ordinance shall be guilty of a Class "C"
Misder.ieanor, and upon conviction shall be fined in any sum
not to exceed $500.00, and each and every day's continuance
of any violation of the above enumerated section shall
constitute and be deemed a separate offense.
Section 3. All ordinances or parts of ordinances in
conflict herewith are hereby expressly repealed.
Section 4. This ordinance shall become effective on
March 1, 1988.
