87-082 ORD PROVIDING CODE OF ORDINANCE BE AMENDED BY REVISING SECTION 26 1/2 - 11 OF SAID CODE
ORDINANCE N0. 87-082
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF PARIS, PARIS, TEXAS,
PROVIDING THAT THE CODE OF ORDINANCES, CITY OF PARIS, BE
AMENDED BY REVISING SECTION 262-11 OF SAID CODE; PROVIDING
FOR HEIGHT RESTRICTIONS FOR BILLBOARDS; PROVIDING FOR A
PENALTY NOT TO EXCEED $500.00; REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES OR
PARTS OF ORDTNANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH; AND PROVIDING FOR
AN EFFECTIVE DIiTE OF JANLTARY 1, 1988.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
PARIS:
Section 1. That the Code of Ordinances of the City
of Paris, Paris, Texas, be amended by revising Section
262-11 so that such shall read as follows:
"Sec. 26~--11. Construction of billboards and
~ ground signs.
No billboard or ground sign constructed of
wood or other combustible material shall be
erected in the fire limits nor within fifty (50)
feet of any frame building, nor within twenty-five
(25) feet of any frame building having unprotected
openings in the wall on the side nearest the
billboard, provided, however, that posts and
braces supporting a ground sign, and the skelton
~rame af a billboard not exceeding fifteen (15)
feet in height above the curb level, may be wood;
and there may also be a wood moulding or border,
not over eight (8) inches wide around the edge of
such structure. The lower edge of every such
billboard shall be not less than three (3) feet
above the ground, and the space between the lower
edge of the billboard and thr ground shall be left
open or may be closed with lattice work which
leaves at least fitty (50) per cent of the space
open. The upper edge of the billboard shall be
not more than 42 feet above the ground."
Section Any person violating any of the pro-
visions of this ordinance shall be guilty of a Misdemeanor,
and upon conviction shall be fined in any sum not to exceed
$500.00, and each and every day's continuance of_ any
violation of the above enumerated section sha.ll constitute
and be deemed a separate offense.
Section 3. All ordinances or parts of ordinances in
conflict herewith are hereby expressly repealed.
Section 4. This ordinance shall become ef_fective on
January 1, 1988.
