Section 2. That the Mayor of the City of Paris,
Paris, Texas, is hereby authorized and directed to cause
notice of such public hearings to be published once in the
newspaper having general circulation in the City and in the
above described territory not more that twenty (20) days nor
less than ten (10) days prior to the date of such public
hearings, all in accordance with the Municipal Annexation
Act (Chapter 160, Acts of the 58th Legislature, Regular
Session, 1963; compiled as Article 970a, Vernon's Texas
Civil Statutes).
Section 3. It is hereby declared to be the inten-
tion of the City Council of the City of Paris that the
sections, paragraphs, sentences, clauses and phrases of this
ordinance are severable, and if any phrase, clause, sen-
tence, paragraph or section of this ordinance shall be
declared unconstitutional or invalid by the valid judgment
or decree of any court of competent jurisdiction, such
unconstitutionality or invalidity shall not arae y and
the remaining phrases, clauses, sentences, p qraPhs
section s of this ordinance, since the same would have been
enacted by the city Council without the incorporation in
this ordinance of any unconstitutional or invalid phrases,
clauses, sentences, paragraphs or sections. It is further
hereby declared to be the intention of the City Council of
the City of Paris to exclude any area or areas described in
the description of the property to be annexed, which are not
within said City's jurisdiction to annex and that such area
or areas should be carved out of the description of the
property herein described by the valid judgment or decree of
any court of competent jurisdiction, in order that such area
or areas would not cause this annexation ordinance to be
found to be invalid, voidable or void.
Section 4. This ordinance shall take effect immedi-
ately upon passage.

NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARINGS ON CONTEMPLATED ANNEXATION
AND APPROPRIATE ZONING UPON ANNEXATION
NUTICE IF HEREBY GIVEN TO ALL INTERESTED PERSONS, THAT:
The City of Paris, Paris, Texas, proposes to institute
annexation proceedings to enlarge and extend the boundary
limits of said City to include the following described
territory, to-wit:
All that tract or parcel of land a part of
the Reddin Russell Survey No. 786, Lamar County,
Texas, and being a part of a 94.07 acre tract of
land devised to Estelle Council as shown in
Affidavit recorded in Volume 305, Page 455, Deed
Records of Lamar County, Texas, and being more
particularly described as follows:
BEGINPIING at a point in the North boundary
line of Stone Avenue, said point being N59°40'W,
801.5 feet from the Southwest corner of a tract of
land conveyed to Powderly-Reno Consolidated
Independent School District by deed recorded in
Volume 459, Page 163, Deed Records, Lamar County,
Texas, and being the Southwest corner of a 6 acre
tract of land under option to Northwestern Cor-
poration;
THENCE North 4121'W, 817.1 feet to a point;
THENCE North 50°30'W, 501.6 feet to a point,
the same being the Southeast corner of the North
Paris Baptist Church property;
THENCE South 76°12'E, 1,449.3 feet to a
point, the same being the Northwest corner of the
North Lamar Independent School District property;
THENCE South, 718.7 feet with the West
boundary line of said North Lamar Independent
School District property to a point;
THENCE South 30°20'W, 232.8 feet with said
North Lamar Independent School District property,
to a point, the same being the Northeast corner of
Northwestern Corporation's 2 acre tract of land;
THENCE North 59°40'W, 295.1 feet with the
North boundary line of said 2 acre tract to a
point, said point being in the East boundary line
of the 6 acre tract under option to Northwestern
Corporation;
THENCE South 30°20'E, 215.8 feet to a point,
the same being the Northeast corner of said 6 acre
tract;
THENCE North 59°40'W, 511 feet to a point,
the same being the Northwest corner of said 6 acre
tract;
THENCE South 30°20'W with said 6 acre tract's
West boundary line to the place of beginning,
containing 17.55 acres of land more or less.
It is hereby declared to be the intention of the City
Council of the City of Paris, Paris, Texas, to exclude any
areas described in the preceding paragraph, which are not
within the City's jurisdiction to annex, and if there be
such areas, that they be carved out of the annexation
ordinances so as not to invalidate the annexation of that
portion of the property described which is within said
City's jurisdiction to annex.
NOW, THEREFORE, as required by law, notice is hereby
given that public hearings will be held by and before the
Planning and Zoning Commission of the City of Paris, Paris,
Texas, on the lst day of April, 1985, at 7:00 o'clock, P.M.,
in the Council Room, City Hall, Paris, Texas, and by and
before the City Council of the City of Paris, Paris, Texas,
on the llth day of April, 1985, at 5:15 o'clock P.M., in the
Council Room, City Hall, Paris, Texas, and by and before the
City Council of the City of Paris, Paris, Texas, on the 15th
day of April, 1985, at 7:00 o'clock, P.M., in the Council
Room, City Hall, Paris, Texas, for all persons interested in
the above proposed annexation and appropriate zoning upon
annexation. At said times and place all such persons shall
have the right to appear and be heard. Of all said matters
and things, all persons interested in the things and matters
herein mentioned will take notice.
