ORDINANCE N0. 84-009
AN ORDIrdANCE OF THE CITY OF PARIS, PARIS, TEXAS,
PROVIDING THAT THE CODE OF ORDINANCES, CITY OF PARIS, BE
AMENDED BY REVISING ARTICLE II, CHAPTER 7, OF SAID CODE;
PROVIDING FOR THE ADOPTION OF THE STANDARD BUILDING CODE,
1982 EDITION; PROVIDING FOR A PENALTY rTOT TO EXCEED
$1,000.00; REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES OR PAF.TS OF ORDINANCES
IN CONFLICT HEREWT_TH; AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE OF

BE IT QRDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
PARIS:
Section l. That Section 7-14 of the Code of Oxdi-
nances of the City of Paris, Paris, Texas, be amended so
that such sha11 read as follows:
"Sec. 7-14. Adopted.
For the purpose of establishing rules and
regulations for the construction, alteration,
removal, demolition, equipment, use and occupancy,
location and maintenance of buildings and struc-
tures, including permits ancl penalties, there is
hereby adopted as the building code of the city,
that certain building code known as the Standard
Building Code, 1982 Edition, save and except such
portions as a.re deleted, modified or amended by
this article, and the same is hereby adopted and
incorporated as fully as if set out at length
herein. A copy of such code has been and is now
on file in the office of the city clerk and the
provisions thereof shall be controlling in the
construction of all buildings and other structures
therein contained within the corporate limits of
the city."
Section 2. That Section 7-16 of the Code of Ordi-
nances of the City of Paris, Paris, Texas, be and the same
is hereby deleted.
Section 3. That Section 7-17 of the Code of Ordi-
nances of the City of Paris, Paris, Texas, be ar.iended so
that such shall read as follows:
"Sectian 7-17. Section 114 amended.
Section 114 of the building code adopted by
this article is hereby amended to read as follows:
'A person who shall violate a provision of
this code or fails to comply therewith or with any
of the requirements thereof, or who shall erect,
construct, alter, or repair, or has erected,
constructed, altered, or repaired a building or
structure, in violation of a detailed statement or
plan submitted and approved thereunder, or of a.
permit or certificate issued thereunder, shall be
guilty of a misdemeanor and, upon conviction
therefor, sha11 be fined in any sum not exceeding
one thousand dollars ($1,000.00), and each and
every day's continuance of any violation of the
provisions of this code shall constitute and be
deemed a separate offense.' "
Section 4. That subparagraph (a) of Section 7-18 of
the Code oi Ordinances of the City of Paris, Paris, Texas,
be amended so that such sha.ll read as follows:
"Section 7-18. Perr.zit fees.
(a) Section 107.4 and Appendix K of the
building code adopted by this article are deleted.
Section 5. That subparagraph (a) of Section 7-19 of
the Code of Ordinances of the City of Paris, Paris, Texas,
be amended so that such shall read as foll_ows:
"Section 7-19. Appeals ar.d modifications.
(a) ThPre is excepted from the building code
adopted by this article all of Sections 111, 112,
and 113 and are specifically excepted from such
adoption, and in place and in lieu thereof the
following provisions of this section shall apply.
Section 6. Any person violating any of the pro-
visions of this ordinance shall be guilty of a Class "C"
Misdemeanor, and upon conviction shall be fined in any sum
not to exceed $1,000.00, and each and every day's continu-
ance of any viola.tion of the above enumerated section shall
constitute and be deemed a separate offense.
Section 7. Al1 ordinances or parts of ordinances in
conflict herewith are hereby expressly repealed.
Section 8. This ordinance shall become effective on
March l, 1984.
