AN ORDI14ANCE OF THE CITY OF PAR.IS, PARIS, TEXAS,
PROVIDING THAT THE CODE OF ORDINANCES, CITY OF PARIS, BE
AMEr1DED BY REVISING SECTI.ON 10-9 OF SAID GODE; PROVIDING FOR
REMOVAL OF LOCAL RESIDENCY REQUIREMENT FOR PIR.ECTOR QF CIVIL
SERVICE COMMISSIQN; PROVIDING FOR A PENALTY; REPEALING ALL
ORDINANCES OR PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN CONFL,ICT HEREWITH; AND
PROVIDING FOP. AN FFFFCTIVE DATE OF JANUARY 1, 1985.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY CQUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
PARIS:
Section l. That Section 10-9 of the Code of Ordi-
nances of the City of Paris, Paris, TPxas, be amended so
that such shall read as follows:
"Sec. 10-9. Directcar's office estahlished;
appointment, qualifications and
xemotiTal of director.
There is hereby established the office of
director of firemen's and policemen's civil
service, which shall be filled by the appointment
by the commission. The pexson appointed must mePt
the same Yequirements as provided in this chapter
for members of the Commission, except that the
Director is not required to meet the three-yPar
local residency requiremer.t prescribed by Section.
10-4. The director may be either a member of the
commission, another employee of the city, or some
other person. The city council shall determine
what salary, if any, shall be paid to such
d.irector. The director shall at all times be
subject to removal for cause upon written charges
after a public hearing by the commission."
Section 2. Any employee of the classzfied services
who sha11 vialate any of the provisians of this ordinance
and of Chapter 10 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of
Paris, shall be sub j ect to the per_alty provided in Sectior..
27 of Ar.ticle 1269m of Vernon's Texas Civil Statutes.
Section 3. Al1 ardinances or parts of ordinances in
conflzct herewith are hereby express7_y repealed.
Section 4. This ordinance shall become effective on
January 1, 1985.
