2616 ORD PROVIDING CODE OF ORDINANCES BE AMENDED BY ADDING SECTION TO BE NUMBERED 7-4 ORDINANCE N0. 2616 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF PARIS, PARIS, TEXAS, PRO- VIDING THAT THE CODE OF ORDINANCES, CITY OF PARIS, BE AMENDED BY ADDING A SECTION TO BE NUMBERED 7-4; PROVIDING FOR THE LICENSING AND BONDING OF CONTRACTORS, BUILDERS, AND REPAIRMEN; FROVIDING FOR A PENALTY NOT TO EXCEED $200.00; REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES OR PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH; AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS: Section 1. That the Code of Ordinances of the City of Paris be amended by adding a Section to be numbered 7-4 to read as follows: "Sec. 7-4. Contractors, builders and repairmen, license and bond requirements. (a) It shall be unlawful for any person acting as a contractor, builder, or repairman to make con- tracts for the erection, construction, or repair of buildings for which a permit is required or sub- letting the sarne or any part thereof without first having secured a contractor's license. (b) Upon the payment of a fee of Fifty Dollars ($50.00) and the furnishing of a name, social security number, date of birth, driver's license number or corporate name with evidence of authority to do business in Texas, principal place of business, current financial statement, credit rating, resume of work performed during the previous twenty-four (24) months indicating scope of responsibility and the furnishing of a Five Thousand Dollar ($5,000.00) cash bond conditioned to conform to building regu- lations and good workmanlike manner and other ordinances and building regulations governing con- duct within the corporate limits of the City of Paris, and the approval by the building official who shall issue a contractor's license." Section 2. Any person violating any of the provisions of this ordinance shall be guilty of a Class "C" Misdemeanor, and upon conviction shall be fined in any sum not to exceed $200.00. Section 3. All ordinances or parts of ordinances in con- flict herewith are hereby expressly repealed. Section 4. The terrible destruction caused by the tornado in the City of Paris on April 2, 1982 creates an emergency, and this ordinance is declared to be an emergency measure and shall go into effect immediately upan its passage.
