2517 ORD PROVIDING CODE OF ORDINANCES BE AMENDED BY REVISING SECTIONS 31-17, 31-18, 31-19, 31-20 AND 31-24 OF SAID CODE ORDINANCE N0. 2517 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF PARIS, pARIS, TEXAS, PROVID- ING THAT tHE CODE OF ORDINANCES, CITY OF PARIS, BE A.~iENDED BY REVISING SECTIONS 31-17, 31-1$, 31-19, 31-20 AND 31-24 OF SAID CODE; REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES OR PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN COPIFLICT HEREWITH; PROVIDING FOR AN INCREASE IN THE WATER AND SEWER RAYES AND ANNUAL REVIEW OF THE SANE; AND PROVIDING FOR ALN EFFECTIVE DATE 0F SL'CH RATES AND ATd EFFECTIVE DATE OF THIS ORDINANCE 0F JULY 14, 1980. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS: Section l. That Section 31-17 of the Code of Ordinances, City of Paris, be amended so that such shall read as follows: "Sec. 31-17. Definition. As used in this article, the word "division" shall mean the water and sewer billing and collecting division of the Water and Sewer Department." Section 2. That Section 31-18(a) and (b) of the Code of Ordinances, Citg of Paris, be amended so that such shall read as follows: °'Sec. 31-18. Water rates. (a) Charges for water furnished by the city are hereby fixed at the following rates per cubic foot per month, for both domestic and comrnercial users, as reg- istered by the usex's water meter: Cubic feet of water used per month Rate 0 $1.54 Minimum Bill, No water (5/8" meter) First 200 1.19 per 100 c.f. A1lover 1,000,000 0.20 per 100 c.f. (b) The following minimum monthly charges for water furnished by the city, based on the size meter or tap, are hereby fixed: Meter or tag sizes Minimum Bill 5/8" $ 1.54 3/4" 4.00 1 " 7.00 1-1/2" 12.00 2 " 20.00 3 " 32.00 4 " 50.00 6 " 90.00 8 " 160.00 10 " 260.00 12 " 360.00 14 " 476.00 16 " 595.00 18 " 744.00 20 " 942.00 Section 3, That SectiorA 31-18 of the Code or Ordinances, City of Paris, be amended by adding Paragraph (e) thereto to read as follows: "Sec. 31-18. GJater rates. (e) The water and sewer rate shall be reviewed during the first five (5) months o-4 each fiscal year, with any new rate ordi:-iance being passed during the month of December, with the effective date of the new rate being January l. The rate study procedure will begin with the staff review which shall oecur between 1 July and Septem'ber 15, at which time the staff will subnait its report and recommendations to the Rate Study Committee, composed of three Cou.ncilmen. The City Council shall hold a public hearing at the regular meetirbg in October for the purpose of receiving public ir.put with regard to the Water a.nd Sewer Rate. The Rate Study Committee shall make its report to tYaA City Council at its regular meeting in Noveriber, and the City Council shall consider the rate ordinance in the event there is a recommended change in the rate at its r~gular Decernber meeting. The effective date of any new rate shall be January l. This reviPw procedure shall be;ir. on July 1, 1981. Section 4. That Section 31-19(b) and (c) of the Code of Ordinances, City of Paris, be amended so that such shall read as follows: "Sec. 31-19. 5ewer ra.tes--For customers using eity water. (b) The minimum monthly charge under Section (a) above shall be 0*_ie Dollar ($1.00). (c) Th.e charge for sewer service for a single- family residence shall not exceed Ten. Dollars ($10.00) per mont'iz, regardless of metered water consua:aption." Section 5. That Section 31-20 of the Code of Ordinances, City of Paris, be amended so that such shall read as follows: "Sec. 31-20. Sewer rates for customers not using city water. Single-familv reside-nce sewerage custorners, who are not also water customers of the city, shali pay a flat rate charge of Ten Dollars ($10.00) per month for sewerage service. All other sewerabe customers, who are not also water u.sers of the city, shall pay a flat monthly rate to be determined by the city manager." Section 6. That Sectior. 31-24(a) of the Code of Ordinances, City of Paris, be amended so that such shall read as follows: "Sec. 31-214. Deposit to assure payment. (a) Each purchaser or eonsumer of city water shall, at the time of Making aDplication for water service, rnake a deposit, with the divisiorr, the following amount: (1) Resident consumers and business or commercial users, wliaerein water is not a part of their business operations, $25.00. (2) Cafes, restaurants an3 ather similar businesses, $50.00. (3) Service stations, $50.00. (4) Tourist courts, hotels and motels with less than forty (40) units, $75.00. (5) Tourist courts, hotels and rnotels, with forty (40) units or more, $100.00. (6) Apartment houses, $25.00 for the first ttiao (2) units a-nd $10.00 for eac'n ad- ditional unit, rot to exceed a total of $125.00. Sectio:-i 7. A1Z ordinances or Darts of ordinances irx con- flict herewith are hereby expresslyrepealed. Section 8. This ordir.ance shall become effective imme- diately, and the effective date of the rates herein established begin with Cycle 1 useage durarxg June and July, 1980, to be billed August l, 1980.
