2406 ORD EXEMPTING FROM TAX IMPOSED BY LOCAL SALES AND USE TAX ACT (ARTICLE 1066c VERNON'S TX CIVIL STATUES)
ORDINANCE NO. 2406 .
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF PARIS, PARIS, TEXAS,
EXEMPTING FROM THE TAX IMPOSED BY THE LOCAL SALES
AND USE TAX ACT (ARTICLE 1066c, VERNON'S TEXAS CIVIL
STATUTES) THE SALE AND DISTRIBUTION OF GAS AND ELEC-
TRICITY FOR RESIDENTIAL USE IN SAID CITY; REPEALING ALL
ORDINANCES OR PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HERE-
WITH; AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
PARIS:
Section l. That the City Council of the City of Paris, by
majority vote, does hereby exempt from the taxes authorized by the
Local Sales and Use Tax Act (Article 1066c, Vernon's Texas Civil
Statutes) the receipts from the sale, production, distribution, lease,
or rental of, and the use, storage or other consumption of gas and
electricity for residential use, as authorized by Section 6 of House
Bill No. l, Acts 1978, 65th Legislature, Second Called Session.
Section 2. All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict
herewith are hereby expressly repealed.
Section 3. This ordinance shall become effective on
October l, 1978.
