AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF PARIS, PARIS, TEXAS, ?ZE-
IMPOSING THE TAX IMPOSED BY THE LOCAL SALES AND USE TAX ACT
(ARTICLE 1066c, VERNON'S TEXAS CIVIL STATUTES) ON THE SALE AND
DISTRIBL'TIOiV OF GAS AND ELECTRICITY FOR RESIDEIdTIAL USE IN SA.T_D
CITY; REPEALING ORDINANCE N0. 2406 OF THE CITY OF PARIS AND RE-
PEALING ALL ORDINANCES OR PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HERE-
WITH; AND PROVIDING FOR Ar1 EFFECTIVE DATE :
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
PARIS:
Section 1. That the City Council of the City of Paris,
by majority vote, under the authority granted in Section 4,
Article 1066c, Vernon's Texas Civil Statutes, does hereby re-
impose the taxes authorized by the said Local Sales and Use
Tax Act upon the receipts from the sale, production, distri-
bution, lease, or rental of, and the use, storage or other
consumption of gas and electricity for residential use.
Section 2. Ordinance No. 2406, adopted by the City
Council of the City of Paris on the llth day of September, 1978,
which exempted the aforesaid receipts from the Local Sales
and Use Tax, is hereby repealed.
Section 3. The City Clerk of the City of Paris is hereby
directed to transmit a certified copy of this ordinance to the
Comptroller of Public Accounts of the State of Texas by United
States Certified Mail, Return Receipt requested.
Section 4. All ordinances or parts of ordinances in con-
flict herewith are hereby expresslv repealed.
Section 5. This ordinance shall become effective on
October 1, 1979.
