22-MOVE TO APPROVE DONATION OF OLD HOLMATRO HYDRAULIC RESCUE TOOLS TO LAMAR COUNTY VOLUNTEER FIREFIGHTER'S ASSNCITY COUNCIL AGENDA ITEM BRIEFING SHEET Submittal Date: Originating Department: Presented By: A,genda Item No.: OS/08/12 Council Date: Fire Department Ronnie Grooms, Fire Chief 22. OS/31/12 RECOMMENDED MOTION: [Atv ACT[oN ITElvt ] - Move to approve the donation of old Holmatro hydraulic rescue tools to the Lamar County Volunteer Firefighter's Association for distribution among those VFD's that do not currently have a rescue tool. POLICY ISSUE(S): Liquidation of old equipment. BACKGROUND: The PFD has retired (3) Holmatro Personal Power Pumps (PPU's) with Combi-Tools (spreader/cutters) that once were used on our apparatus. These are old cutter/spreader units the manufacturer (Holmatro) has discontinued. We have replaced these units with newer, more powerful tools and would prefer to donate this old equipment to the local Volunteer Fire Departments whicll do not currently have rescue tools. The local VFD's have assisted us many times in the past by providing water tenders (tankers), brush apparatus, etc., when we've called them. We want to show our appreciation for their continued support, maintain and enhance our relationship with them, and, where possible, help them to help others as well. We recommend making the donation to the Lamar County VFD Association so they can distribute the equipment to the appropriate departments. I have spoken with the Association President and he said the Association would be exceptionally pleased to accept and distribute the equipment and assured me they would most certainly be used and would be of great benefit.
