RECOMMENDED MOTION:
Consideration and action on bids received at public bid opening for Water Treatment Plant Filter Gallery
Pipe Painting; recommended action is to reject the single bid received.
POLICY ISSUE(S):
BACKGROUND:
The request for bids was advertised in The Paris News on April 15, 2012 and April 22, 2012. One (1)
bid was received and opened in public at 3:00 p.m. on May 8, 2012.
Bid announcements were submitted to twenty-one (21) contractors; one (1) contractor submitted a bid.
The single base bid received from 7-H Construction Co., Inc. was in the amount of $314,901.00; in
addition to their base bid an additive alternate amount of $87,400.00 was received for decreasing the
project completion time from ninety (90) to sixty (60) days.
Recommended action is to reject the single bid from 7-H Construction Co., Inc., review the project
specifications and re-bid the project.

Sealed bids were received on May 8, 2012 for the Water Treatment Plant Filter Gallery Pipe
Painting.
Only one (1) bid was received, submitted by 7-H Construction Co., Inc., with a base bid of
$314,901.00 and an additive alternate amount of $87,400.00.
The base bid reflects an amount of $124,901.00 over what was budgeted for this project and
$212,301.00 over with the additive alternate amount included.
Recommendation:
Reject the single bid submitted by 7-H Construction Co., Inc.
A review of the bid specifications will be completed and the project will be re-bid.
