Non-action item. Update on the Health Department.
POLICY ISSUE(S):
General Liability
There is a consensus of the Health Department Board that a new relationship needs to be formed
between the City of Paris, the Health Department, and Lamar County. To that end, the City Attorney
drafted a cooperative agreement which set out the nature of this relationship. The Health Department
Board delayed acting on this agreement because they wanted the new Health Department Administrator
to have input on the agreement. The Administrator was hired April 28th, and she is in the process of
reviewing the operations of the department. The goal was to have the new agreement adopted by the end
of the current fiscal year; however, indications are that the administrator may need more time to
reorganize the department.
