2324 ORD PROVIDING CODE OF ORDINANCES BE AMENDED BY REVISING SECTIONS 31-17 31-18 31-19 AND 31-20 OF SAID CODEORDINANCE NO. 2324 , AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF PARIS, PARIS, TEXAS, PROVIDING THAT THE CODE OF ORDINANCES, CITY OF PARIS, BE AMENDED BY REVISING SECTIONS 31-17, 31-18, 31-19 AND 31-20 OF SAID CODE; REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES OR PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH; PROVIDING FOR AN INCREASE IN THE WATER AND SEWER RATES AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE OF SUCH RATES AND AN EFFECTIVE DATE OF THIS ORDINANCE OF APRIL 11, 1977. BE IT ORDA INED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CIZ'Y OF PARIS: Section 1. lhat Section 31-17 of the Code of Ordinances, City of Paris, be amended so that such shall read as follows: "Sec. 31-17. Definition. (a) As used in this article, the word "division" shall mean the water and sewer billing and collecting division of the dpartment of finance. (b) As used in this article, the phrase "base cost" shall mean the cost derived by adding the costs of the following components: (1) Chemicals consumed at water treatment plant. Section 2. That Section 31-18(a) and (b) of the Code of Ordinances, City of Paris, be amended so that such shall read as follows: "Sec. 31-18. Water rates. (a) Charges for water furnished by the city are hereby fixed at the following rates per cubic foot per month, for both domestic and commercial users, as registered by the user's water meter: (2) The capital., operating and maintenance costs for storing the first 11 mgd purchase contract with the U. S. Corps of Engineers for water in Pat Mayse Reservoir. (3) Electrical power consumed from the point of raw water storage through the point of discharge from the water treatment plant. In the event the "base cost" of water increases or decreases more than 1/2¢ per 100 cubic feet of water, the above rates will be increased or de- creased to the nearest whole cent. For the purpose of adjustment calculation 8. 51¢ will be construed as a 1¢ increase and 7. 49¢ will be construed as a 1¢ de- crease. That Section 31-19(a), (b) and (c) of the Code of Ordinances, City of Paris, be amended so that such shall read as follows: "Sec. 31-19. Sewer rates--For customers using city water. (a) Charges for sewer service furnished by the city to domestic and commercial customers who are also users of city water are hereby fixed at 6570 of the monthly -charge for water based on the water used, as registered by the user's water meter. (b) The minimum monthly charge under Section (a) above shall be seventy -eight cents ($0. 78). (c) The charge for sewer service for a single- family residence shall not exceed Eight and 50/100 Dollars ($8.50) per month, regardless of inetered water consumption. " Section 4. 1hat Section 31-20 of the Code of Ordinances, City of Paris, be amended so that such shall read as follows: "Sec. 31-20. Sewer rates for customers not using city water. Single-family residence sewerage customers, who are not also water customers of the city, shall pay a flat rate charge of Eight and 50/100 Dollars ($8. 50) per month for sewerage service. All other sewerage customers, who are not also water users of the city, shall pay a flat monthly rate to be determined by the city manager. " Section 5. All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby expressly repealed. Section 6. This ordinance shall become effective imme- diately, and the effective date of the rates herein established begin with Cycle 1 useage during April and May, 1977, to be billed June 10, 1977.
